Ouch, that really sucks. My condolences. I hate it when that kind of thing happens; had a hard drive fail on me a while ago. You should consider putting your stuff on Google Docs for the future. That really helps with technical failure and other physical issues.
3764103 I agree tenfold with this guy. But not just Google Docs, anything that allows you to create an external file to the stories or heck, even this website could be helpful. My laptop right now is getting to the point it might permanently break down on me, so I had to rush and make some copies onto Google Docs and Fim, just to be on the safe side

Simple USB sticks and such also go a long way. Important things should never be just in one place, exactly so stuff like this can't happen.

I was in a cafe, eating, it was right next to me, (Strapped) Then, I was talking to the waiter for the bill, then some fanatic guy starts to argue with someone. (Next to me) with another person. Surely, I was caught in the crossfire and the waiter I was talking to tried to calm them down. It took 15 minutes to get the commotion down. Then I left a few minutes later. When I got home, I realized I forgot my bag. When I came back to get it, they said they saw nothing! Not even in the CCTV footage!. I mean seriously?! I saw it... i wouldn't believe it when I saw that footage, but it's true. I saw nothing.
