The sheer amount of hate towards this game doesn't even phase me anymore. In fact, I think it's funny how thousands of little children want to bitch and complain about how this game has "A different art style", or "Samus isn't in it", or my personal favorite: "It isn't anything like a normal Metroid game". Going past all their tiny brains is the fact that other well-established franchises have done other styles before, Samus IS in fact in the game as it was recently confirmed, and so long as the core gameplay is there, it's a Metroid game.
Wind Waker. Remember that game? Regarded as perhaps one of the greatest Legend of Zelda games of all time? That was universally PISSED on when first revealed due to it's different style. Now, I'm not saying Federation Force is going to be the greatest Metroid game ever, but nothing should ever be judged by it's cover.
Halo Reach. Remember that game? Regarded as perhaps one of the greatest Halo games of all time? That TOO was universally pissed on when first revealed due to not being able to play as Master Chief, and instead as some Spartan no one cared about at the time. Again, not saying this game will have the same incredible story as Reach, but I'd still be interested in it.
Metroid Prime: Hunters. Remember that game? Not the best Metroid game, but was praised for it's cooperative online battle mode that I actually had a lot of fun with. Some people LOVED that game, and now people are saying that another handheld Metroid game with MORE controls than DS is somehow going to be worse. No one knows how the single player campaign will play out, and who knows; maybe it'll play out exactly how one would expect a Metroid game to play out? Until then, we have to deal with little shits like these who honest to god believe that making a Change petition will actually stop this game from being made.

Actually, I have a link to an article I found justifying pretty much the entire game. You can check it out by clicking here! It explains how Retro Studios is developing this game. Y'know, the same guys that made Metroid Prime, considered to be one of, if not THE best Metroid game of all time? So we can have faith that even if the game won't be what we expect, it'll still be good.
Also it explains that the game won't be anything like Other M. And I know Other M has its fans, but I'm sorry, it's just not a very good game. Which makes me question further why people are complaining about this game being different from the normal Metroid standards and completely giving Other M a free pass.

The game is in fact NOT being made by Retro Studios, but by Next Level Games. Simple mistake. While this is a bit disappointing, we can still have faith the game will be good since Next Level Games have made some great games themselves, such as Punch Out for the Wii, Mario Striker's Charged, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
I don't give a damn what people say, I'm buying this game when it comes out. Hopefully it won't end up like Triforce Heroes.

alright, I'll admit they make the pacing a little uneven, but I still stand by Em as being one of my fave things about the game. Character development and all, and it helped with my immersion. I can understand people not liking them.
But saying they ruin the whole game? Ummm, not really. The core elements are there, great story, rounded characters, elegant gameplay, epic soundtrack. Sooo yeah.
Still, if someone doesn't like the social links, fully understand.

The petition to ask to cancel is indeed dumb, but I understand their anger.
It's not because it's a spin-off, it's because it's not what they were waiting for; they wanted an action/adventure shooting game.
Other M, even if considerate has horrible, was one, Prime Hunter was also one, Federation Force on the other hand is, for what I saw, a party/sport game.
In addition the fan were waiting for the next Metroid on Wii U and were denied it, making the Wii U the second console to not receive a Metroid; the N64 had a valuable reason to not have it, it not the case for the Wii U.
In the end this is why this sums all the hate: At the hype for the next Metroid has sky rocket, it crash the moment they learn they won't get it. At the place Nintendo announced Federation Force who is another genre of game, just in the Metroid universe, and they considered this as a troll move, an insult from Nintendo towards the fans, thus the heated backlash Federation Force is now facing.

I think those who are complaining about the social link, must be the older fans that played the original series and the first two Persona.
Lot's of fan of Persona only played/started with the third or/and the fourth opus and rely on it as the basic game of the series.
They didn't knew that the first two were very different in gameplay than the latter two.

But it's not a sport's game; that's just a side part of the main game. The game will stay true to the original formula of Metroid, only now you can bring along some friends. Oh, and if Sylux enters the stage, this game will become a thousand times better. One, because Sylux is awesome, and two, because we could learn about Sylux's past while also having a threatening villain.
Kensuke Tanabe himself said that he's EXTREMELY interested in making a Metroid game with Samus VS Sylux, but he also stated he needed some sort of background to cover first. Hence, Federation Force.

Besides if Federation Force is only multiplayer oriented, that won't appeal to me; I'm not big into online multiplayer games.

Yeah I know, gamefaqs is pretty divided between original fans and latter fans. I'd play the originals, if I had the means to do so...which I don't. but I do understand, and with people saying how good 2 is, im kinda bummed I can't play it. Oh well.
My first experience with the series with SMT 3, called Lucifer's Call in Europe. Though I bought it because Dante from DMC was in the cast. Worst reason ever, but I really enjoyed the game. I latter found people who likes and knows better the series. I played the first two on emulator, If hasn't been fully translated yet, and bought Persona 3 and 4 as well as other spin-off games like the Devil Survivors and the Digital Devil Saga.
I bought a PSP mostly because I wanted to try the first two Persona. I actually found P2 Innocent Sin for cheap ,was the only one release in Europe, but P1 is not, same as the second part of P2 Eternal Punishment and it is near impossible to find it also because the nether have a European release. Though P1 is now available on PS store, haven't look in it for a while so now maybe I can have it cheap now, but P2 EP, far as I know, is still not available.

i know this blog is old but i just found it so ill say this
my issue is this the last metroid game we got was other M a huge slap in the face to fans of the series it took 1 giant crap over samus
and then we get this a game that lacks the exploration that the franchise created as a genre samus is reduced to a minor character for generic space marines that plague games that are set in space
nothing about it looks like any real effort has been put in to it verry few people care about the federation
and worst of all this is how the celebrate metroids 30th anniversary a game that has nothing fans love about the series
