Well, all of my work's gone. · 3:59am Jan 19th, 2016
So! Great news, everyone! All of my work is gone! This includes all of my commission outlines and drafts, as well as all of my outlines and drafts for that new Appledash story I've been working on!
"How did this happen, Spinner? How'd you manage such an incredible achievement?"
Well, I'm glad you asked! See, I was having a bit of trouble installing my new GPU yesterday. The software isn't compatible with Windows 10, you see. So, instead of doing the logical thing (checking for updates to the software on the internet) I decided to try to roll back my OS to Windows 8. Now, that didn't work. Instead of rolling back to Windows 8, it just rolled back to an earlier version of Windows 10 from before I started work on any of the things I was working on. So that means I have to start. All. Over.
Not to worry, though! I'm back to work as we speak! Because nothing pleases me more than rewriting everything that I've done this year. Yeah. Yeah, you heard that right.
Oh, well.
At the risk of asking stupid questions and rubbing salt in your wounds:

I mean, no way in hell would I mess around with OS upgrades/rollbacks without them.
oh shit :x
you might want to start
a) to NOT store data in your c-drive
b) making backups to external media. this also helps in case your drive wants to quit next
as for w10 - thats your choice. it should work (in theory). but i will not use that half-cooked spy in a long time
Sorry to hear about that, dude, but use this as a lesson: back up your stuff, preferably in the cloud somewhere or on an external harddrive. I've made a similar mistake in the past, and it cost me a lot of my notes from grad school.
This is why I saved everything on a cloud system because I freaked out when I thought all my work was gone when u changed motherboard and cpu but then I clicked on the Google sync and everything was all right.
Now I just got to build the nerve to write to it. Hooray for awkwardness.
And this is why I use the FiMFiction cloud system that they have.
*hugs you*
3697377 FIMFic has a Cloud system? Point me at it, please!
3698012 when you make a chapter to a story. You can write and save it there. That's what I do.
3698163 Okay, thanks. I'll remember that.
I write the majority of my stuff in GDocs, but this sounds pretty good, too.
