So I Toured a Control Tower · 3:46am Jan 14th, 2016
We went to the Springfield, Illinois tower which had been closed to tours since the 9/11 attacks and we were the first tour group there since 2001. Of course they didn't allow photographs so I can't show you guys what the various rooms looked like but I figure I'll include rooms like them in my story so you can get an idea (if you've never seen one for yourself). Of course because the airport isn't exactly a major hub, hot spot, or even a glowing ember with airlines; the controllers were playing cards and smoking when we went to the top of the tower. Of course because there's little to no traffic after dark, only one of the runways was lit up and the lights were at their lowest setting. But long story short, if you ever want a laid back job as an air traffic controller, just move to Springfield.
lol
Smoking out side I bet! Wow it only took 14 years to get something that cool to reopen!

I think they were supposed to be smoking outside but they clearly didn't bother following that rule. But they've also been there since they were hired in 1983 after the strike so I think they've probably earned the right to do that.
