Christmas Haul · 1:48am Dec 26th, 2015
Had a great Christmas. Got to see my piggy and ate lots of bacon (she didn't get any bacon, but not for lack of trying). Also saw the new Star Wars yesterday. Not bad. Easily better than the prequels, though it doesn't top A New Hope. Anyone else think that opening crawl looked super weird? Anyway, I figured the perfect end to a night of materialism would be to show off the cool stuff I got (not pictured: the Celestia Pop! figure I bought myself when getting my brother Magic cards)
First, the pony stuff. My sister got me this amazing sweater
Only got one comic this year. Have no idea how it fits into the main series, which I'm behind on, but hopefully I won't be lost
Whoo, concept art! I flipped through this a bit and Faust made the same tack-tacky joke at least twice
I don't art, but this looked really cute
And now for the non-pony stuff which nobody else cares about but is still totally cool
Two Poul Anderson books (yes, I did get these exact versions. No clue what — if any — changes were made)
And for my computer
Love the shirt (I want one!)
Also The High Crusade. I have that very edition. Here's the story: I read it back in high school, and wanted to read it again. Looked around online, and found out that it was (at the time) out of print. None of the local libraries had it, but I could get it through interlibrary loan. So I did, and then I retyped the whole thing, so I'd have a copy i could read whenever I wanted.
Fast forward a couple of years, and I'm looking for Christmas gifts at a bookstore, and they've got the new printing on display . . . took about .01 seconds before I had two copies in my hand, one for me and one for my dad.

Nice! What'd you think of it? I've never actually read any Poul Anderson before, though I've been meaning to read Three Hearts and Three Lions for years now
My sister got the sweater from some site called 80sTees. There's also a t-shirt version. Both are about $20

Loved it. Wonderful cultural misunderstandings; I can't really say more without spoiling it.
I have a vast need for that sweater.
As for Fiendship Is Magic, the comics are mostly standalone. Chrysalis's follows from the first four issues of the main comics, and Nightmare Moon from the second four, and I suspect you've probably already read those, so we're good. :B

Ah, thanks for the info! Yep, I've read the first twenty issues. I'd be further along, but I save the comics for Christmas and birthdays since I'm so bad at coming up with gift lists. Might have to change that now
Oh, and I still haven't watched the EqG sequels, but I've got several days off to do that so I can finally read your fic
