why does the world have to be a hurtful and hateful place
why does it have to be a place with a lot of tragedy
why does it have to have greed and depression
why can't it be a place where one can have dreams
where you can be yourself and not get laugh at and stepped on
where you can do something and not be criticize
where you can fail and it can be all right
where you don't have to hide because people can be so mean and use words as weapons against you
where you don't have to cry yourself asleep and fake a smile
why can't the world be happy and peaceful for just a moment

It's hard to admit, but not a lot of people are willing to embrace whatever good may be inside them. The expression, "It's a dog-eat-dog world," has managed to bolt itself onto the minds of billions and no one wants to be the one to experiment to see if being nice is a better alternative. People criticize because they don't want others to notice their own flaws. People are greedy because they don't want to stoop down to ask for help. People hurt others because they don't want to be targets.
And it's sad. It's sad that it's the kindest people that get treated horribly and the wicked are rewarded for their actions. It's sad that we can't all just drop our differences and get along. It's sad that the world is how it is. But it's people like us who were put here to change it.
