Interesting story idea... hopefully. · 10:55pm Dec 11th, 2015
I recently acquired a copy of Warhammer 40,000 Dark Heresy; Second Edition and an idea came to me based on a story I saw on the site where the girls got together with Spike to play some Oubliettes and Ogres.
But with this I'd like to set it up where the girls are reacting to a modified, or possibly are in an AU, version of WH40k.
So, I ask this of you... Which worlds would you think each of the Mane Six would be from? What would be their Backgrounds? And what roles would they have in the group?
The available home worlds are:
-Feral Worlder: Vicious and violent, these humans are well suited for combat-oriented roles
-Forge Worlder: Humans from the massive planets dedicated to manufacturing the arms and armor for the Imperium's vast and inexhaustible armies.
-Highborn: Highborn humans are the nobility of the Imperium, trained by birth into accepting roles of leadership and importance.
-Shrine Worlder: Reverent humans who dedicate themselves to praising their god on the Golden Throne as well as the various heroes throughout the Imperium.
-Voidborn: These humans were born in the great void of space, either among huge space stations or on the decks of the many vessels that traverse the space between worlds, they tend to be more frail and slightly more eerie than other humans.
The Backgrounds are:
-The Adeptus Administratum: An organization dedicated to inscribing and preserving the records of the imperium
-The Adeptus Arbites: The police of the Imperium
-The Adeptus Astra Telepathica: The Astra Telepathica is dedicated to keeping Psykers in check and making sure the interplanetary travel infrastructure doesn't collapse.
-The Adeptus Mechanicus: Keepers of the Standard Construct Template, they seek the designs that were stored in this mighty database so that the technology and armaments of the Imperium may continue to function.
-The Adeptus Ministorum: The priests and clergy of the Imperium.
-The Imperial Guard: The billions of men and women who lay down their lives so that the Astartes can take all the credit.
And finally, the Roles of the group:
-Assassin
-Chiurgeon (Medic)
-Desperado
-Heirophant (Priest)
-Mystic (Psyker)
-Sage
-Seeker
-Warrior
An example would be the combination I plan to use to represent Twilight.
-Highborn/Adeptus Astra Telepathica/Mystic
What combinations do you think would fit or make an interesting analogue for each character?
right i can already come with my suggestions.
rainbow dash: feral worlder adeptus arbites in the warrior role. or alternatively an imperial guard. most likely warrior or desperado. just a suggestion though.
fluttershy: either voidborn or also a feral worlder, she could be a ministorum priest and fill out the medic role.
applejack: feral world (i am noticing a pattern) or forge worlder (or agri-world with the enemy within splat book) and the adeptus mechanicus OR imperial guard background. not sure about role though.
rarity: noble born. either a ministorum priest or an arbite (or maybe JUST maybe a sororitas once again with the splatbook) because.. well i don't know i guess i think it fits.
pinkie pie: an agri world (again with the splat-book but i can think of no other) astra telepathica with possibly the mystic package cause.... well Psyker. or make her a mutant (splatbook again) desperado.
twilight sparkle: shrine world adeptus administratum sage or shrine world astra telepathica sage. the sage no matter what cause KNOWLEDGE!
Spike: voidborn adeptus arbites who is either the seeker or warrior. any of them work! but these are just my suggestions
3624145 And very good suggestions they all are. If I do start this story though I'm definitely going to make sure that most of the group has different homeworlds
3630258 alright then. still gonna suggest getting the enemies within book and such. it gives a bunch of shitte such as being able to play a mutant, an adepta sororitas. being able to become a battle sister and all new roles and home worlds and what not.
3630889 Oh yeah, I definitely want to get the enemy within, beyond and without books
3631120 yup. it gives a lot more options after all.
3631241 Though I sadly have to cludge the Tau stats from the Deathwatch books.
3633824 i like deathwatch.... and there is the ones from rogue trader and such aswell.
3633861 Oh yeah, the deathwatch stats work fine, though I only have the core books for 1st edition Dark Heresy, Deathwatch and 2nd edition dark heresy alongside some of the free supplements that FFG allows users to download off of their site.
3635441 ahhhh. well. alright then. a shame.... espescially cause 1st edition has rules for you to go from acolyte to actual proper throne agents and now reach rank 9 to 16. deathwatch? most people i've played with seems to prefer to use it to just have the marines be characters in an ascension campaign and such. rogue trader is fun. all teh moneys. i personally don't like only war but everyone else i've met adores it. and black crusade i absolutely love cause KHAYOSS!!! but yeah. that's fun. 2nd edition is kind of fun. has great ways of character creation but be careful not to play with a power gamer and espescially that guy.... both will bring so much cheese to the table everyone become lactose intelorant....
3635887 I encourage more roleplaying than powergaming in my group anyway. I personally love the second edition Dark Heresy rules... except for requisitioning. It made sense in deathwatch since you weren't there to actually buy gear for your marine, it was provided by your chapter. But I do understand why they went with the more fluid Requisitioning instead.
3636066 i suppose that is true to be honest. anyways i'm actually part of a roleplaying group that has pretty much all the rulebooks. we talk and RP over skype and such. we do occasionally have a few not that nice people in but for the most part the majority of us are actually really nice and what not.
