It's Like They Want Me To Only Have Headcannon

I feel like I'm having to break up with somebody.

It's not you...well, it's you. Four seasons and there's been strong and weak episodes, but for the most part you've been a good series. But, in this last season, MLP:FIM, you've lost a lot of what I liked about you.

You've gone from Pony North Korea to Twilight's Anxiety Corner. Going deeper into dreams to turning Rainbow Dash into a domestic terrorist. Using Discord as a one-trick pony, twice. Beta Male-ing Spike and making boys icky. Giving Twilight Sparkle a stalker (that isn't Trixie, that's her job), making Luna into Celestia's masochistic butt-pony, giving the fan-base a "look at all the fandom memes we can stuff in, nudge nudge" blowjob, and giving a horrible friendship message. Big Macintosh having to cross-dress to get any respect or play at all.

Come on, you weren't even trying in at least one episode. Single episode redemption for Diamond Tiara? The CMC getting their Cutie Marks in getting Cutie Marks? Ignoring the fact that everyone of the CMC has an individual talent that they're good at and we've been told that Cutie Marks are what makes the individual pony special over 100+ episodes? Hell, we were told that in the first episode of this season! An episode that is pretty much a half-hour musical number? Playing the whole "oh, we can't complain about another pony's culture because they're all valid" when that culture is literally little more than just pushing rocks around, doing something that drove Pinkie Pie to run from the rock farm the first chance she got.

Do I have to keep going on? Turing Fluttershy into a Jekyll-and-Hyde horror creator. The light-up Cutie Marks and the Map Of DOOM that seems to have replaced Princess Celestia. Making Rainbow Dash into an idiot for wanting anything to do with the Wonderbolts if they can be fooled by that simple of a trick. Rarity not having what she wants because it's "character building". Don't even get me started on the whole "how the rivalry started" thing went...

You're going to say, "It's a kid's show, for little girls, to sell toys to them and nerds. You're over-analyzing this!" My reply is simple-"Kids aren't dumb. They can see the plot holes, they just don't have the language for it. If they feel like they're being insulted, they'll go somewhere else. And, the rest of the audience goes with them."

I'm...hopeful for the next season. There's still a chance. But, I'm pretty much (with a few small exceptions, like Alicorn Big Macintosh and some other bits) writing this season off from my headcannon. It just doesn't work.
