My opinions on recent events. · 7:12am Nov 16th, 2015
I am of course referring to the events in France, and the recent threats from ISIS.
These are horrible, just awful. But of course you already knew that. While I am happy with the efforts taken to help support France... there just that. Efforts. It seems like no one is actually taking action and doing something about this. Well, except for the french military.
No, instead, people on the internet are using the recent events to spread hate all over the world.
I can't tell you how many posts I've seen today saying that "Oh! We need to Nuke all of Islam!" or, "Oh hey! let's ostracize all Muslims form our countries just because a tiny, tiny group of them did some terrible things!" ... Guys... You do realize that there are several innocent civilians living in Islam... And you do realize that, by ostracizing Muslims, your only feeding the fire against us.
Worst of all, in my opinion, people are saying that religion is the cause of all of this, and that we need to let it go. So... completely get rid of cultures, and ask people to change their entire way of thinking, just like that? Pffft... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Like that I'll ever happen... It's never been that simple, and it never will be. Terrorism isn't caused by religion, it's caused by people. Terrible people who, for some botched reason, believe that they are in the right by killing innocent people who can't fight back. If you ask me... that's cowardice. People just use religion as a scapegoat, something to blame all bad things on, just because people don't like it. Or... they use it as a scapegoat to justify their actions...
Just for the record, (and I have done research on this), nowhere in the Muslim sacred text does it clearly state that "Killing people Is okay." In fact... I've seen a lot of passages advising against it.
In the Christian sacred text, it outright says that "Killing someone is murder, and murder is a sin. It doesn't matter what the conditions were." It even says "Love thy neighbor" ... which means that you are not to treat someone else horribly just because they have different religious preferences than you, or have different interests.
So no. Religion is NOT the cause of all this horrible shit that's going on. It's horrible people, doing horrible things. The only reason these people are doing horrible things in the name of religion is because they are in a position where they can grossly manipulate peoples minds into thinking they're views are right. They're brainwashing them for all intents and purposes.
Horrible people... doing horrible things. Humans are like that you see. We're either "meh" or downright evil. (I really don't like being forced to be a member of this race... Honestly, if I was an animal, life would be so much simpler.) That's just how it is. I guess the message I'm trying to get across is this. Don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. A very small minority group may be awful, but that DOES NOT mean the entire ethnicity is bad. I have a few christian friends, I have a few muslum friends, and I have a few Wiken (I think I spelled that wrong) friends. I know them personally, and I promise you, they are (in my opinion) some of the most wonderful people you'll meet. I even have an acquaintance who's a satanist, and he's NOT a bad person.
As for my religion. Well, I grew up in a christian family... but I don't necessarily identify as one. I feel theirs an omnipotent being, or some driving force out there in the universe that makes everything come to pass, but I don't quite think of it as "God" ... just... Life, nature. Whatever you may want to call it. 42... (that's honestly the best answer I can come up with.)
Ostracizing Muslims is just unfair. Painting all religion as a bad thing is just ignorant, and treating others like shit makes you primitive. Were humans guys. We're supposed to be evolved past petty conflicts like this. ACT LIKE IT FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!
first logical thing i've seen all day.
it is "Wiccan" yes, I am another of those friends. I really follow many paths, so I guess I am more "eclectic" in my beliefs, I take a little bit from every path.
But that is off topic
The topic at hand is do not judge all for the acts of a few, and you are right, we cannot judge an entire Religion, Ethnic group, Race or any other group based on the actions of a few.
"Judge not lest ye be judged" are not just words.
"Do unto others as ye would have them do onto you" are not just words.
These are things that should guide us every day.
