Dan Vs. The History of Equestria Part 1

What follows is a list of important events in Equestria in the loosely-established canon of Dan Vs. The Magic of Friendship. As with the show, a timeline is established with a date of precision one-thousand years before the first episode of MLP: FiM and this story takes that into account as a dating system. The imprisonment of Nightmare Moon by Princess Celestia is thereby categorized as 0 NH, or New Harmony. Dates before this are labeled with BH for years Before Harmony.

25,000 B.H. Fausticorn(Lauren Faust) creates Equestria and all life upon it. She creates the world, the sun and the moon and sets them into motion amongst the sea of stars. She then creates all life upon it, every creature that calls Equestria home today. Fausticorn then creates King Eternos and Queen Galaxina in order to watch over all creatures great and small and to give the land peace and order. The Fausticorn then returns to her home dimension through 4chan where her husband Craig gives an approving nod before making a sandwich. The exact constitution and construction of this sandwich remain a subject of both academic and culinary debate to this day.

24,999 B.H.- 20,001 B.H. King Eternos and Queen Galaxina rule peacefully over all races in Equestria. The various species gradually come together, forming their own civilizations in a rich and fertile land known as the Enchanted Valley. Great cities are constructed with castles, palaces and roads stretching from land to sea. The king and queen reside amongst other ponies in the center of this great valley in a castle that was already there. Pegasi, earth ponies and unicorns all live together peacefully in a single great city surrounding the Enchanted Castle while the other races build their own kingdoms in the areas around it to their liking. There is hard work and peace.

The king and queen wield incredible power to create peace and order though they do not know why. They begin to teach other ponies, primarily unicorns, to use the power of magic in order to better themselves and their communities. Privately, they wonder why they were given such gifts, why they were chosen to rule. It is both a gift and a burden to them, one which they discuss only with those they trust.

20,000 B.H. The city of Canterlantis is built in the eastern seas, beginning the Sea Pony Empire.

19,000 B.H. Populations in Equestria begin to exceed resources. Infighting begins between races with squabbles over food and land being the most frequent. King Eternos and Queen Galaxina can only do so much to solve this problem and are unsure of what actions to take. Beasts, dragons and monsters begin to become a greater problem as nations expand into new territories. Foot shortages soon begin to plague most towns.

18,999 B.H.- 17,500 B.H. Tirek, his brother and several other powerful monsters and demons form an alliance to conquer Equestria. Half of the Enchanted Valley falls to them before they are finally stopped. King Eternos and Queen Galaxina imprison the demons in Tartarus rather than destroy them. Tirek vows that one day, Eternos and Galaxina would use their powers against those they protect.

16,000 B.H Sea ponies move to control and regulate all life under the sea. They do not venture near land often.

15,002 B.H. Queen Galaxina becomes pregnant with her first child. She gives birth to a filly during the day who she names Celestia.

15,000 B.H. Queen Galaxina becomes pregnant again with her second child. Another filly is born, this time at night under a full moon. King Eternos names her Luna.

14,999 B.H. Worried for the future of their children, King Eternos and Queen Galaxina summon a zebra oracle and a dragon soothsayer from the countryside. The two seers foresee that the two fillies will one day bring eternal harmony to Equestria though one would have to be sacrificed for this to happen. The seers did not see which sister would be sacrificed.

13,000 B.H. King Eternos and Queen Galaxina, wracked with doubt and uncertainty at their own destinies, use their powers to leave Equestria in order to search the cosmos for their creator. Their daughters, still maturing, are left in the care of the unicorn magician Starswirl who becomes the first leader after the king and queen's departure. He is offered the title king but declines it, believing that there would only be one king and queen of Equestria. The royal family is started from his bloodline with the goal of maintaining order and peace in Equestria until Celestia and Luna matured and/or their parents returned.

As a last act before they depart, King Eternos and Queen Galaxina used their magic to imbue Equestria with a powerful magic of its own. From that day forward, when ponies came of age, their destinies would make themselves known when each pony discovered them. It was decreed from then on that the destiny of each pony would become a mark on their flank, representing their special talent and acting as a guide for them to build their own future. The memory of the King and Queen fade until they become little more than myth.

12,999 B.H. With populations booming, the Enchanted Valley is reorganized into the nation of Enchantria comprising all the kingdoms of Equestria. Representatives of each species regularly make their way to the Enchanted Castle to voice concern and learn of the future. Rudimentary airships and sailing vessels are constructed. The Age of Discovery begins.

12,000 B.H. The majority of Equestria is mapped. While cities and towns appear in different areas, most of the larger kingdoms remain in Enchantria. The problem with dragons and similar beasts becomes epidemic, forcing ponies to seek magical solutions. These provide only temporary remedy and must be returned often.

11,000 B.H. A great dragon, stronger than any seen before makes roost in Equestria. Starswirl, unable to defeat the great beast, uses the first summoning spell in Equestrian history to summon a great warrior to battle it. The first human ever summoned is a young blonde girl named Megan and after a great adventure with Starswirl and the other ponies, manages to make peace with the dragon. Peace is restored. The Crystal Empire is founded.

10,982 B.H. Megan and Starswirl become great friends, going on many adventures together with other ponies and even her little brother. The Elements of Harmony are forged in order to better keep peace in Enchantria. One each is given to the great kingdoms of Enchantria with the hope that the various species will see them as gifts and share them.

10,980 B.H. Over the centuries, new creatures have evolved because of the lack of food and abundance of sentient life and magic. Changelings, windegos and other creatures appear. These creatures feed off of other creatures through magic, using deception and creating conflict to gain sustenance. They quickly become a problem all over Enchantria, draining magic from others and the land, spreading disaster wherever they go. The changelings unite under a queen and seek to conquer Equestria but are fortunately stopped by Starswirl. He is hailed as a hero and the survivors of the changeling horde are imprisoned deep underneath a mountain.

10,975 B.H. Starswirl and Megan are forced to say their goodbyes, promising to see each other again one day. Megan and her brother leave for Earth along with all other humans.

10,000 B.H. Starswirl begins to experiment with different kinds of magic hoping to find a way to bring about eternal harmony. One of his exploits causes him to grow an abundance of facial hair which he decides to keep. Enchantrians soon call him Starswirl the Bearded during this time and he travels across Equestria to learn about magic.

9,999 B.H. The Elements of Harmony are returned to the Enchanted Castle. Fear, paranoia and jealously begin to take hold in the other races who demand to see the daughters of prophecy, Celestia and Luna. In secret, the sisters, still fillies and maturing, are moved to the Everfree Forest in a castle that Starswirl builds. He retires to the forest itself to watch over the girls until they are grown, studying the Elements of Harmony and other types of magic. He builds a shrine and other buildings in the forest, leaving Enchantria to be ruled by the rest of the royal family, his brothers, sisters and a unicorn named Discovery who is really Discord in disguise.

9,950 B.H. The royal family is forced to allow appointment of other representatives of the kingdoms to rule in the Enchanted Castle. Zebras begin experimenting with potions at this time, claiming them to be a "superior" form of magic. This begins a rivalry between unicorns and zebras which continues to this day.

9,900 B.H. War breaks out between ponies and zebras. The pegasi form an army to quickly combat the threat, which is defeated. Peace is quickly returned with races respecting pony rule again because of the pegasi. The position of Pegasus General is created and the first pegasus general is given a position to rule alongside the unicorn royal family.

9,800 B.H. Earth ponies demand better treatment by pegasi and unicorns. This leads to the appointment of their own representative, the first earth pony chancellor. The earth ponies decide to elect them by popular vote.

9,001 B.H. Two Saiyans in star pods enter a dimensional pocket and wind up over Equestria on their way to Earth. Nappa asks Vegeta if they can stop there. Vegeta tells Nappa to "shut the hell up."

9,000 B.H. The other races of Enchantria begin to leave the valley behind, seeking more fertile lands. The Age of Exodus begins, seeing the departure of all races except ponies in Enchantria.

1,500 B.H. Famine in Enchantria reaches intolerable levels after an extremely harsh winter. The three pony tribes disagree on what the problem is and afterward, decide to leave Enchantria to seek more fertile lands. The three arrive on the same spot, causing more arguments between them. The first Hearth's Warming occurs and the nation of Equestria is born. Enchantria is seemingly buried in snow overnight, becoming a memory. At the request of the other triumvirs, the Pegasus Army is quietly disbanded. Commander Hurricane secretly creates the Storm Enclave.

1,100 B.H. Starswirl the Bearded is visited by Megan, who is now a powerful sorceress herself. She returns to Equestria to be with her friend, both of them now mature but still young at heart. Hand in hoof, they leave Equestria behind to seek King Eternos and Queen Galaxina, using their magic to travel beyond the world. Their story eventually passes into legend and their current whereabouts are unknown.

1,050 B.H. Earth Pony Chancellor Rice Puddinghead and General Manager Typhoon have a son which they name Vice Grip. Their son is an earth pony, much to his mother's dismay and is forced to be raised by his father alone. General Manager Typhoon blames her husband for the event. She does not speak to her husband or her son.

1,042 B.H. The first Unification Day occurs with the completion of the first railroad. Rice Puddinghead is killed when the locomotive he invented is struck by lightning and explodes. Vice Grip is believed to have been killed in the explosion as well. The pegasi are blamed for the incident and the position of General Manager is removed. With the death of the chancellor, the office of earth pony chancellor is also removed. Princess Quartz becomes sole ruler of Equestria, continuing a tradition of unicorn rule that Celestia and Luna inherit.

A funeral is held for Rice Puddinghead and his son. Unbeknownst to everypony, Vice Grip secretly survives and vows revenge on all magic-users for the murder of his father. He follows the train tracks his father laid, eventually leading him to the Crystal Empire. He is taken in by a group of Ore Hounds living in the outskirts of the Empire. Using his knowledge of technology given to him by his father, he helps them build tools and advances their civilization. In recognition, the dogs make him the leader of their clan.

1,025 B.H. The first Magic Gear is constructed from the wreckage of the first locomotive.

1,022 B.H. The Crystal Empire is taken over by King Sombra. The Empire disappears. Vice Grip and his clan of dogs disappears with it, hidden from time for a thousand years.

1,020 B.H. Ponies become fed-up with unicorn-only rule. They decide to reorganize Equestria and one of them suggests not having a government. The idea, proposed by a pony named Discovery, is accepted almost unanimously. The Declaration of Discovery is soon written and signed by all pony representatives. Discovery then reveals himself to be Discord and reveals that the declaration makes him king as he represents anarchy and chaos. Discord turns Equestria literally upside down, forcing ponies to live in chaos and disharmony.

1,019 B.H. Celestia and Luna recover the Elements of Harmony after Discord scatters them. Celestia and Luna defeat Discord, imprisoning him in stone. The two sisters finally fulfill part of the prophecy, finally having matured, they take over rule of Equestria by gaining control of the sun and the moon. The two rule peacefully together for nineteen years.

1,000 B.H. Princess Luna becomes Nightmare Moon and sets about to cast Equestria in perpetual night. Princess Luna uses the Elements of Harmony to defeat her sister and imprison her in the moon. Celestia loses the ability to use the magic of friendship as a result of banishing her only friend. She rules Equestria alone for a thousand years, training young and gifted unicorns in the hope that one day she would find a student to do what she could not.

O N.H. Nightmare Moon returns from her imprisonment and declares the night shall last forever. Twilight Sparkle, Celestia's current student, gathers a group of ponies from Ponyville to find the Elements of Harmony. The six ponies become great friends and come to represent the Elements of Harmony themselves. They defeat Nightmare Moon, who reverts back to Princess Luna and is finally reunited with her sister.
