Gunpla Review: 1/144 HGBF Kamiki Burning Gundam · 2:59am Nov 5th, 2015

This one took me between 4.5 and 5 hours to build, partly because I was painting as I went. I used silver marker under the clear blue pieces, and of course I painted the sword and end of the scabbard. I would have used black marker instead of the stickers for the shoulders and ankles, but mine don't stay well if you're going to touch it often.

Sometimes the hinges for the hands were hard to push into place. Otherwise this was a fairly straightforward build, despite the chest and high quantity of clear pieces making this an experience unlike any other build I have done.

So far I'm not having any problems with pieces falling off, including the V-fin. The flame effect pieces go on very easily, although I'm thinking of skipping the fire streamers most of the time. I have also decided not to assemble the fire effect pieces from the previous Burning builds, opting instead for the God Burning Halo.

And, naturally, I could not do this without involving the fight I think everyone wants to see: Kamiki Burning vs Build Strike. I think we all know that there's only one way in which such a match can end, too.

Overall I like the look and articulation of the Kamiki Burning. All the hands and effect parts give you plenty of playing and display options. There is also a simplicity that I can appreciate in having just the one physical weapon, especially after adding the Seven Sword/G pack to my 00.

Tool used include baby nippers, metallic red, blue, gold, and silver gundam markers, and the butt-end of my file to move and secure the stickers without losing much of their adhesive.

This is a build beginners should be able to complete as well. I recommend this kit very highly. But... some vendors aren't as reliable as others: it's pretty ridiculous when a kit I ordered 3 weeks later arrived the day before instead. Be aware of both vendor and product reviews!
