Gunpla Review: BB Senshi Full Armour Unicorn · 3:48pm Mar 12th, 2016

In full disclosure, I have not watched Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn yet. That said, there is a huge selection of models from that series, and the HG Full Armour is listed for $30 or more. If you don't want to spend that much, you can get the SD version instead. I got mine on sale for $16, and then the seller refunded half for a dented box, so I think I did really well (the ironic thing is that neither of the other two kits it was shipped with were dented).

I have been leary of SD's because of their lower articulation, and of course that is a factor, however the Full Armour comes with a lot of stuff. There are no beam javelins and no stand for the shields to act as funnels, however it does come with:
- the beam magnum;
- a green beam saber; two separable beam saber hilts;
- three sets of gatling guns and unicorn shields that can be joined or used independent of each other;
- two hyper bazookas to which you can attach or detach a set of grenades and missiles;
- another pair of missile pods to attach to the legs;
- a backpack onto which you can attach the bazookas and third shield, as well as the
- two boosters.

Oh, and it transforms between Unicorn and Destroy Mode. As far as I know the HG doesn't even do that! Sure, the transformation isn't perfect, but as an SD I don't think you could ask for much more than that.

With or without the boosters it can stand on its own despite the weight, and I choose not to use the boosters even though they take up less shelf space than the HG would.

Overall I believe this kit has a lot of value for the price, and is a good budget representation of the Unicorn Gundam. I would recommend it even to those who aren't a fan of the Unicorn. Just keep in mind that because there's so much to it, it takes longer to assemble than a standard SD because of everything that goes into it. In fact, where many SDs often have hollow parts, this one doesn't, probably because it has to include the psycho frame. It took me about 3 hours to complete.
