Progress? Looks like this calls for...MORE PROGRESS · 11:19pm Nov 2nd, 2015
Given that more people add my works to their personal bookshelves with each passing day, I feel a strong urge to do nothing but write. Is this a good or bad thing? Hopefully, it's the former.
Progress on Cosmic Defiance is going at a steady pace. Outlining and writing has only slowed down because of errands, sleep, food, or calls of nature. In fact, with enough time, I expect the next chapter to be up around the same day that the previous chapter was uploaded if not sooner. Just for kicks, here's a quick rundown of the changes from the old version of the fic (for those of you who haven't had the chance to read it yet):
-The main villain Shadestone (previously Asmodeus (that's a Redwall reference for y'all)) is still classified as a demon, but instead of using consuming souls (a la Soul Eater), he simply channels the abilities of his vessel Adrastos.
-Comet (previously Aru) had his age reduced by two years. I figured that a blacksmith in his twenties still considered an apprentice was weird. He's also a lot more behaved than his previous incarnation, choosing to help his father man the workshop than spend the entire day wandering the town.
-Comet's previous self used to own a cat, but was removed in this version of the fic for personal reasons (it's actually because I kept forgetting it was part of the story, meaning it would be mentioned in one paragraph and not reappear until several chapters later).
-The border town of New Lynna in the previous version (the old one was destroyed as a result of meteors 15 years prior to the story) is known as the merchant city of Arpeggio in this one.
-Comet and Twilight had an obvious interest in each other. This time around, it might happen much later (if at all), though I'll mess with the heads of the readers that don't read the blog just for the hell of it ("Will they? Won't they?")
-Comet was exiled from Lynna, but chooses to leave Arpeggio.
-Comet had named friends in Lynna, but random acquaintances in Arpeggio. He doesn't get out much these days.
-As for the story concerning the immortal man in the desert (read by Comet in the latest chapter), this was a dream I personally had (minus the part about speaking to the gods). It was also a basis for a concept scene regarding Comet and Twilight, in which the villain would terrorize the duo as they crossed the desert (in various forms of wildlife including an antlion). However, it was scrapped long before the first version of the fic.
