A not-so-accurate depiction of my folks' reaction to this revelation.
Well, fellows, good news and bad news. Good news is, I'm staying for a little while longer. Bad news is, I was downsized, which is a polite way of saying that they could not afford to house me, so they had to let me go for the time being. While for their sake, I will not name them, I will thank them for being forthright about it and letting me know in earnest. I'm not sad for having met them, and I'm glad they can at least get a fresh start, even if I cannot.
Perhaps it was for the best; I am a far cry from being prepared to hold my own place, especially with a distinct lack of any formal occupational experience. Who knows? Maybe in a few months, I'll be able to come down there for real and stake my claim in the real world. For know, I'll be happy to take the bitter-sweet catharsis in and try to update. It's the least I can do to make up for my less-than-stellar composure and dental discomfort.
