The Sound of Silence, the teaser

Personally, I think it would be filled with the cries, threats, and lamentations of deprived readers.

    Anyway!

    Bronycon

I know so many of you have been waiting for something - anything - from me, and this likely wasn't it. Buuuuuut, I am at Bronycon, so if you're here, you can yell at me in person. Yes, I'll happily welcome that.

What I've been doing? I'll reserve that for after LineCon.

As ever, I'll probably be at Quills and Sofas a bunch, with occasional dips for Pokemon, or something.

Portland, ho! · 1:31am Oct 5th, 2015

To the West Coast!

I don't normally do this kind of thing 'cause I'm, well, shy, introverted, quiet around people I don't know, withdrawn when in strange surroundings, etc., etc. Buuuuuuuut... Later this week I'm flying out to Portland, Oregon for an uncle's 80th. I'll be around for a few days, and even traveling up to Bend to visit the resting place of a relative from long, long ago.

Is there anyone who's paying attention to this that is from around the Portland area? Is there anything I should do? Particular things I should see? Places I should eat at at least once before I die? Bronies I should have coffee (blegh! Coffee...) with while I have the chance? Souvenirs I absolutely must have? Anything else...?

I think it'll be fun regardless; I just don't know what I'm going to do out there with what free time I'll have. (Where's a nervous, pointer-finger-tapping emote when you need one?)

What's that? Back to work? I know! Just let me finish.

I've been noticing a trend(?) in the feature boxes and in my feed: depression/suicide stories. Hell, there were three popular Twilight ones in less than two weeks some time ago. Now it seems like there's a new one - not necessarily Twilight-centric - in my feed every couple of days.

Is this the latest trend? :unsuresweetie: I don't like it.

Oh, and I'm trying to move. As cheap as my apartment is, it's far more than I should be paying for. So I'm moving back in with a college friend and his long-time roommate. (And our visits-far-too-much-but-not-actually-living-there friends) It'll be like college all over again! Late nights! (Tame) Drunken parties! Not doing any homework! :rainbowlaugh:

The commute though... :pinkiesick:

What do that mean for all of you?

:rainbowderp:
:twilightoops:
:rainbowhuh:
:ajbemused:
:trixieshiftright:
:moustache:

Absolutely nothing! Probably.

I just really need to get this damned scene done so I can get onto the last one. I'm about to rewrite it for the... *counts* ...third time. Bleh!

You're heading to my state? Sweeeet. I live in Eugene so you'd still be a ways away, but still...

If you're heading over to Bend, I'd suggest checking out the lava tube caves. They're really cool!

Yeah, I've noticed that too lately. The majority of the people I'm following seem to suffer from depression, anxiety, etc., and claim it is the reason they are hardly updating their stories. I know depression is a serious issue, but it's honestly getting a bit annoying. Sometimes I get the impression some of these people just make these blogposts to get attention.

Still, have a fun trip!

I've been to Portland before. I think it was raining.

Another person living in Eugene here, but I'm a Portland native. I've got 3 suggestions for you:

1. Powell's City of Books on Burnside. 5 stories, 1 city block of new and used (not to mention rare) books.

2. OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). It's a hands on museum, kinda geared to kids, but adults enjoy the heck out of it too.

3. Voodoo Donuts... a Portland institution (a weird one true, but...).

Funny enough, I graduated from Bend High Scool in 1990. The High Desert Museum is another good stop.

OMSI's theater is pretty good as well. At least it was last time I went to it.

3. Voodoo Donuts... a Portland institution (a weird one true, but...).

Heh, is the one in Portland better then the one in Downtown? Not that the one here is bad...

Depends on your definition of 'better'. :) Bigger city, so more turover of product. Plus the owners are there, which always makes a difference.
