Northern Desert

Hello Everyone, I'm Northern Desert and this is my user page. I'm a fan who loves crossovers, Pokemon, Bionicle, Lego, and other general nonsense. Witness now as this silly author writes horse words!

Reviewing other Fics · 11:29pm Sep 21st, 2015

Hello Everyone,

Chaos here and I wanna make a announcement, I'm starting a review blog! Yayyyyyyyy! Anyways, I was thinking this over for a while and I chose to do this because I wanted to give constructive criticism without it getting spammed in the comments section.

So, here are my rules and how I'm going to do this:

1. Get permission to review fic from the author. Also explain to author that the review will have criticism as well as positive points to it.
You might think this is dumb, but you have to understand that I'd rather not start a flame war or offend someone. So getting permission and explaining to the author what I would be doing would prevent any issues. That and I want the author to feel comfortable with me reviewing their work.

2. Never get personal. Review the story and nothing but the story.
Attacking others or judging their work based on their beliefs, other works, or how I feel personally (Good or Bad) about the author is not a review, it's a biased attack on someone.

3. Read entire fic.
Let's face it, if I make a review I have to make sure I read everything. Authors improve overtime, just because I hate one chapter does not mean the next will be bad for me.

4. Truthful and objectivity. When reviewing don't make sarcastic or whiny comments, I'm not a child.
I wont sugar coat what I say, but it's good to be kind and courteous when criticizing.

Bad Ex: I really have no idea why you did ____ it was fucking stupid and made no sense at all.

Good Ex: I'm confused on why you chose to do ____ while it wasn't bad, it didn't really make sense.

5. Don't make pointless banter.
I have no idea why people do it, but they do. When reviewing I don't need to nitpick to write a decent review.

6. Suggest, don't enforce!
If I think something could be changed, I'll mention it. I'm not going to harass someone over my ideas, it's their fic, not mine!

I'm a nice guy, and I intend to keep that in my reviews. My system is to talk about what I liked, and what I think can be improved. One of the main issues I'll run into is reading the fic, since many have a lot of chapters.

Well, let me know if you would like me to review your story.

Chaos out!
