Hey, all! Welcome to another review of “My Little Pony”! In this review, I will cover "Rarity Investigates". As I have discussed before, I will lay out the standards of my reviews. If you just want to skip to the break below, feel free by all means. Here are my standards:
• How in-depth I will go into the episode will vary on the impression it made.
• I may refer to stuff almost related to the show. It depends on what I’m reminded of in the episode.
• Some of the references may be unknown to you guys, so I apologize in advance if anything confuses you. I will do my best to clarify what I mean.
• I will list the pros and cons of each episode and then sum it up.
• The last thing I will do is give the episode one or a mix of the following:
o A letter grade
o A percentage
o A number on a scale of one to ten
• I may skip over select episodes due to a low impression or personal reasons. My apologies in advance to anyone I might offend by skipping over an episode they like.
Please keep this in mind so I don’t have to worry about boring you.
Here’s my review of "Rarity Investigates"!

Hi, I’m KidatHeart5. This is my center of operations, my pool. *double take* Wait, I don’t have a pool!
You do now! *splashes up to K5, who jumps back and yelps*
Miss Koi! You’re here? Wow! I didn't expect to meet you! How did you get here?
(Rests her head on the title floor by the edge of the pool) Oh c'mon Kiddo, we're friends now. Just call me Missy. Miss Koi is too formal for us, and having my friends call me that makes me sound old. Anyway, some funky stuff is going on in the rift now. So many ponies are reviewing MLP episodes these days and it's throwing the Rift dimension out of whack. So, I accidentally got teleported into this place. That and, most importantly....I WANT TO SEE THAT WATER LILY DRESS THAT RARITY MADE YOU! *stars in Missy's eyes* You still have two of them right?! Oh, I want to try it on soooo badly! Where is it?! Can I try it on?! Can I?! *she’s practically in Kid’s face*
*chuckles* All right, all right. I'll get the dress. *goes to retrieve the dress* You know, thanks for letting me know about the rift. I'll have to keep a look-out from now on. *comes back with the box* Here you are, Missy. One genuine... *opens the box and her eyes shrink* Uh, Missy? Your dress is gone.
What?! looks desperately into the box, putting her face and hooves into it* *pulls her head slowly from the box and stares at Kid with a straight face, which makes Kid feel a little uncomfortable* There's only one explanation for this... *magically changes into the trench coat and hat made by Rarity and poses* Looks like we got a mystery on our hooves, ladies.
(Activates her unicorn horn and in a flash of blue, K5 is in Nancy Drew-esque attire) And I'm with you all the way. Let's start with the item in question. *looks into the lid* Hey, there's a note. *pulls out note and reads aloud* “If the dress is what you seek, then the review of the episode you must speak. Follow the hoofprints until you find a note that makes you use your mind.” *looks up to see large hoofprints* Whoa. Those are big. Well, come on, Missy. We got a dress to track down.
*reads note again* Seriously, who does clues in rhyme anymore? *follows Kid down the trail of large hoofprints* Either Trouble Shoes accidentally stole the dress for some reason or Big Mac wants to dress up as Alicorn Princess Big Mac again. Anywho, since we need to review the episode 'Rarity Investigates', how about you give the first impressions of the episode? Since this is your channel and all.
I was sort of neutral about this episode. I did predict some things, but it was good overall. Oh, look! There's another note! *grimaces* And it's apparently floating in a chocolate fountain. *pulls out note* Luckily, it seems to be stain-proof. *reads note* “To find the next post, what about the episode did you like the most?” I liked that they established the SoarinDash shipping. I do like a bit of mystery, so I liked how the film noir elements were added in. It was great seeing Spitfire's mom. Such a sweet mare. I adore the dresses so much, but I definitely love the first dress Rarity wears to the party. What about you, Missy? What parts did you like?
*looks at second note* Hmmm, there seems to be magic a-hoof. But like Rarity said in this episode, I can't state who did it just yet without gathering all the facts first. Anywho, oh boy, where do I begin in terms of this episode?!
I practically loved almost everything about this episode. I loved the mystery film noir atmosphere, the black and white scenes, Rarity's outfit changes and dresses, Rarity's narration, the humor, the balanced dynamic between Rainbow and Rarity, and the cute little OC named Cinnamon Chai. I just wished we knew her mane and coat color scheme. Sorry, I love chai tea lattes. Anyway, what I loved above all this is that Rarity loves mysteries like me. I love murder mystery shows like Castle, Forever, How to get away with Murder, and 48 Hour Mystery. Now that I think about it, it would make sense for her to like mysteries like Shadow Spade novels because as Rarity stated in the episode "Like Shadow Spade, I must pay attention to detail". And I just loved how Rarity went full blown with her mystery fangirlness because that's how I would react if I had a mystery on my hooves. Like the mystery I'm in now, lol! For me, the funniest part was when Rarity was flirting/charming the royal guards. I'm telling ya, Rarity's powers over stallions was in full force this episode!
She had everything: the sexy outfit, the fainting couch, and whispering in the guard's ear. Wohoo way to go girl! Forget fanfics about Shadow Spade, give me fanfics of Detective 1920vs sexy noir Rarity! Anyway, the mystery in this episode was decent. It had me guessing until we got to Chai and Rarity talking about the scarf. Then I knew that Winder Rider was the criminal. I definitely saw Soarin flirting with Dash but no flirting on Dash's part. Let's just say I have another character mind in terms of who Rainbow should be with.
That's okay. Not everyone goes for a certain shipping. Anyway, I like to watch mystery shows, too. There's 'Murder, She Wrote' and a bit of '48 Hour Mystery'. I also knew that Wind Rider was the culprit. He just seemed to be least likely, and there's a rule with just about every mystery that the culprit is the one you least expect. *Neon arrow sign shoots up from the ground* YAAGGH! Wow, that was certainly unexpected. Come on! Let's follow that trail!
Right behind ya! *Narrates to herself* It may seem like Kiddo and I are getting closer to our goal. After all the signs, the notes, they were all popping up like daisies on the first day or spring. However...I have a feeling that this is exactly what the culprit wants us to think. Another rule of mysteries...the criminal likes to play with the detective like a brand new toy. So I better... *photograph floats down before her* *she picks it up and squees* Yes! It's a picture of Cinnamon Chai in color! Aww, she has a cute light brown mane with a cream coat. I knew it!
*smiles before she and Missy come across another note* Who would leave a note hanging on a fishing hook?! *grabs it and reads note* “One more thing you must tell: what parts didn't you like so well?” Okay, I've...got nothing, besides predicting who the crook was. Is there anything you didn't like about the episode, Missy?
Hmmm. That's a tough one, but to be fair...they could have created a better crook in terms of his motivation and plan. As much as I like the more simple yet realistic human crook, I like crooks in mysteries with well-thought out plans and deep yet twisted motivations for why they are committing the crime along with having some personality to them. In other words, Winder Rider could have been a better villain character although...I dig his overall look with the bomber jacket and Coco Chanel scarf. Another thing, there were times when Rarity did outshine Rainbow Dash. Alright culprit, we played your game! Now come out and show yourself! I know you're here!

It's okay, I don't need another dress. One thing that Discord taught me was that I don't need dresses to make me happy. All that I need is friendship and thankfulness to make me happy.
