We all have them.
Those things that if we see/hear/read or experience that will take us from being perfectly reasonable people to fiery avatars of hate and intolerance... Or in fanfics just instant downvote and abandonment of a fic.
Mine? Anon.
GDMF'ing Anon.
I just can't stand him/her/it. To me it's the height of laziness, the attempted reader grab (shut up, I know I sometimes write memverse stuff) and a complete lack of creativity.
It says that you can't even be bothered to think up or pick a name... at least that's one of the more tolerable theories.
Never link me to an Anon fic unless you want it downvoted. Hell, I will read clop (Yes, I do read clop... But only if it's got top tier world building or character development)
(An Escort's Journal for example)
But say Anon for a name (especially in a second person fic) and I won't even finish the sentence, I'll downvote it and close it... Some angry human noises will likely accompany this action... I'll also likely stop reading for a few hours if not the rest of the day after an encounter with Anon.
So... What triggers you?
I always use Stanley for anon. Just change all instances of anon to Stanley and the story tends to read okay, and sometimes it becomes downright comical.
I do not have a trigger for downvoting a fic, with me you have to REALLY EARN a downvote.
I do however avoid Anthro stories with a passion. If you are going to do Anthro then why are you not doing original fiction? It has ceased to be pony.
I rather dislike seeing grammar errors in the synopsis of a story featured on the front page.
Like, you wrote a really popular story, and you can't be bothered to at least check that?
Everything lately. Just GAHHHHHHHHHHHH
