Force of Nature Villains · 1:07pm Aug 26th, 2015
Today I stumbled on a video that explained the concept of a Force of Nature villain in story telling. I thought it was actually very interesting, since I'm using such villains in the Page of Pride.
With the Page of Pride nearing the confrontation with Lord Lucifer, whom with his title 'the Master of Pride' is the embodiement of pride, I wanted to talk a little about why I chose for that kind of villains.
The main reason is because they're easy to design, as explained in the clip, a force of nature villain doesn't necessarily need a justification why he does what he does. Take Discord as example, Discord had no other reason to be a major pain in the butt than for it being in his nature. As for Lord Lucifer, it is in his nature to be prideful. Him residing in a flying castle proves that. He doesn't need a flying castle, but choses to have one anyways as it enables him to literally look down upon the land he is trying to conquer. Of all the lords, only he and another lord have a flying castle, if you don't count Lord Belphegor who mostly naps on a cloud, since he is the Monster of Sloth.
