Back from Bronycon · 1:12am Aug 11th, 2015
I'm back from Baltimore, and boy oh boy was Bronycon a hoot! Lots of fun times I had! Only complaint I have is that the cosplay contest was capped, and everyone apparently decided to camp out at the registration gate, so it filled up before me and around 40 other cosplayers could get in. Fallen ones include, but are not limited to: HinawaShy (me), Gilda (Von Snootingham), various main/side characters, Calamity from Fallout: Equestria, fur suits of King Sombra and somepony with a black and white cow pattern (I don't read the comics, so I wouldn't know if this character comes from there or is an OC), a couple of Daft Punk ponies, and a group of what looked like ponified business-suited clowns with guns (btw, please enlighten my ignorant mind if you know where any of this bizarre material comes from).
Standout experiences I had are as listed:
- Sat in front of AnimatedJames at the Riffing is Magic panel. Showed him the Smash Bros Mii Fighter I made of him, to which he actually broke character and smiled!
- Met Skeeter The Lurker, Burraku_Pansa, and Pav Fiera. Great to finally meet these people face to face and not from ten feet away sitting in the audience or looking at the back of their head during a panel or through a monitor.
- After almost an entire year, the hug that Themaskedferret promised me has finally been given! All my thanks to you for being so lovely and caring! You're much less furry than I expected you'd be, though...
- Bronypalooza was as energetic and riveting as it was last year. Batting balloons, jumping like a little kid anticipating a new toy while hyped up on sugar, partaking in conga lines, shaking hands with EileMonty... The only part about it that sucked was the ending, by which I mean it ended. Which I'd say is the biggest problem with Bronycon in general.
- Encountered a wild M.A. Larson on the streets of Baltimore. But don't worry, my followers, for I avoided being struck by his Alicornification powers.
- Met a group of fellow NC bronies on the train ride home today, including one of the security staff as well as one of the con ops guys who also played some music on stage at Bronypalooza, whom we all heard a plethora of amazing stories of both the comedic and dramatic variety. The most prevalent theme was how severely understaffed the con was this year. Got to play a couple rounds of Twilight Sparkle's Secret Shipfic Folder and some ponified D&D card game of which the name currently eludes me.
- And yeah, all the panels and stuff I attended were all very exciting/funny/informative. I believe I gained a cumulative total of 843859* ex. from all of the con's various activities.
*Actual results may vary depending on level of randomness subject is feeling at time of writing.
So yeah, I had a blast. Gonna try to get my whole family to attend next year, to which it would be my brother's first bronycon, or just con in general.
Best wishes from me to everyone!
Glad you had fun! Sounds like it was awesome
I'm glad you had a good time, man! Glad to have you back.
