Homework, Life, and Forest fires, Oh My! · 7:59pm Aug 4th, 2015
Hey guys! What is going on? It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything up and I have been having an interesting time where I am at. I wanted to explain a little what’s been going on in my life and to share my experiences.
Over the last two weeks, I have been working my ass off with studying. I’ve said before, I am studying to become an automotive technician; sorry, a car mechanic in simpleton’s terms. I have been having a blast studying about the workings of an engine, disassembling a Toyota V6 motor, cleaning and inspecting it, and soon reassembling it! I’m hoping the next thing we can work on is transmissions. I’ve been enjoying reading the textbook as well since it’s helped explain some things to me that I had no idea how they worked like how I finally figured out how a torque converter works in an automatic transmission! For those who are interested, the easiest way to explain how it functions is having two fans face each other while only one is on. The fan that is one will slowly begin to turn the fan that is off as the first fan starts to spin faster and faster. It’s an ingenious idea when I discovered it that fascinated me with how simple and clever it worked with an automatic transmission.
The next thing that has been taking up my time has been the homework. I’ve been pacing myself to stay ahead of the home work so I can have more free time to either relax or write some more. But some of the chapters from the required reading have been really long and took a couple hours to read it all; then another hour or so doing the questions at the back of the chapter. It’s been quite time consuming…
Next quarter is only going to get worse; we’re studying electronics on a vehicles next. Fuuuuuuck…..
The last thing that kept me from writing was the forest fires we’ve had around my center. The biggest one near us burned over 600 acres and was slowly moving south. Here’s the kicker; the fire came within 2 miles of our center where I am living at. So, the staff figured it would be best to evacuate the center as a precaution in case the fire got really out of control. So I spent my weekend laying on a gym floor in a nearby high school with a sleeping bag and a back pack with essentials and enough clothes to last me four days (I was expecting to be there longer). It was not a comfortable experience; when you are a healthy weight with little to no fat on your hip bones and you like laying on your side while you sleep, it sucks.
Anyways, that’s been my story for the last few days; shit has been hellashish.
On the plus side, go me for making over 100,000 words!! That is definitely a milestone to be proud of! And I still have so much to write and share with you guys; it’s unbelievable! I can’t wait to share it all with you!
