Next chapter of Smoke is the last! · 12:48am Aug 2nd, 2015
...for a little bit. 
I'm under a deadline on the next chapter, one that's important to me, so it'll be out by 8/14. After that, though, I need to back off. It hopefully won't be long, but I'm working 6 day weeks right now (48 hours a week), and expect them to go to 60 hour weeks before they drop back to 40. Tack on my commute, general chores, and sleep, and I've actually kind of been burning the candle at both ends for a little bit now. Given that I don't have Day to keep me efficient, Deep to keep me relaxed, or Peach to keep me soothed (much less Primavera to do my cooking, Strawberry Frosting to do the chores, or Bright Jade to take care of everything else), something has to give, and it has to be the thing that doesn't pay bills or keep me alive.
Worst case scenario, I expect to be writing again by mid-October (first week of October is off limits, mine). Top priority upon return will be the second PC chapter I promised Strawberry Frosting ages ago, followed by the next of the OC chapters I promised last October. Those are still a thing, but the story needed to get moving again, badly.
I will try to do little fluff things related to Smoke in the interim, stuff like the newspaper article I did after "Kids Today and their Music," and while I'm not writing, I'll be having Smoke's shiny new illustrator back fill a bit on chapters that lack art. Toward that end--if there's minor, low effort (that is key!) fluff you'd like to see for Smoke to help bridge the gap, let me know! Here, in PMs, or on the tumblr if you'd like to remain anonymous. You can also suggest which chapter you'd like to have me have Fishy do, but tell me why to make your case. This is not a vote; I pick. But it's possible to appeal to me here.

what do you mean by 'fluff'? because all that comes to mind on this end is fluff-fic, like just feel-good sappy romanctic fanfic, and I like that stuff, but that doesn't seem to be what you mean

I did a few blog entries as journals from various characters (Shimmer, Day, Deep, Bruises), and I did a newspaper article about the orgy at the Starlight. Little things like that, that don't begin to count as actual story content, but which provide a little extra characterization or worldbuilding. That's what I mean.

Don't worry; there's a reason I said "for now." That reason is
because I'm a jerk and wanted the headline to scare people until they clicked and read the postbecause I AM coming back. It's just a busy period for me currently. Ask Fable what I'm doing to myself to get these chapters out right now.
