Day In the Life of a Workaholic · 7:50am Jul 29th, 2015
Certificate IV in Information Technology.
It's exactly what it sounds like. Over the past few months, I've had to juggle my day job as an editor, my occupation as a student and my life as a young individual battling the hardships of life. All of which have turned me into a workaholic. As you've probably noticed, I've been doing quite a bit of editing lately. Mostly for little, unknown stories from authors nobody's ever heard of.
In the same way, I will mostly like find myself in five years making pretty pictures for a gaming company that's nobody's ever heard of. Or perhaps I will work for a small, independent publishing firm as my 'big break' into the writing industry. Its unusual for a girl at the tender age of 'sixteen' to be tackling such feats such as balancing my school, work and home life.
But here I am, just making my way in this world, trying to find out if what I've got is worth fighting for. If my greatest passion in life is worth it. At this very moment, I am busy editing a story that just two weeks ago graced the glorious feature box. I won't give away the name of this story but the author will hopefully update the chapters soon and you'll get to see what I can do.
After all, I dare to follow in the footsteps of my past editor Cerulean Voice and the great writing prowess of Absolute Anonymous. So, while the show is in the middle of a hiatus, I thought it best to treat you all to something very special. I think its time, its been over three months since I last wrote or even published story.
Its time I came back to the writing scene. I'm sure you can all agree that its time I came back. I bet you're all hungry for words.
Perhaps you would like some pie instead? Just while I go and prepare something.

That's actually one of my favorite Wonderbolts picture. There aren't many Slice of Life stories that really try to follow the day to day of Soarin and Spitfire. Let alone many other Wonderbolts like Fleetfoot. It's always ship fics and they rarely star in the same story together in any meaningful way.
I'd love to see what you do with those characters and the world they live. Both on and off the clock. Or whatever and however you go about it. I just really love those two characters as well as Fleetfoot and her adorable lisp. Hope you have fun writing it!
As for being too young to get your life in order? My brother was 15 working a job while still attending middle school. Holding solid grades while helping pay the rent and get stuff he wanted and needed. I always respected him for being so independent. You're never too young to learn responsibility and take charge with trying to better your future. Never let yourself get off the wagon, don't let complacency ruin your future. Try to get some practical stuff to fall back on while aiming for your main goal in life. And know that most don't make their dream job until their 30's, only the very lucky few get it during their 20's.
Depending on which field you go for in writing. It is a very competitive field and has lots of subfields. Example, writing for TV is different from writing for Comics, though share a few common rules they follow. But writing for video games is a whole new ball game. And art is very nitpicky and brutal. Writers aren't treated too well in the industry. Working for a smaller independent might be best.
Being a freelance is hard, but rewarding. Whatever you decide on, just make sure you have something to fall back on to SUPPORT your goal. Life is hard once you leave the nest. You'll need to pick up some thick skin or try and stay within the nest as long as you can while you save up what you can until you're ready to take off on your own. Don't rush it if you have a safe nest to roost in.

Thanks for the advice Telaros, but I don't think you should worry too much about me. By the time I'm 21, I plan to have finished my university studies and looking at some more proper employment. After all, editing fanfiction is a service I provide for free and therefore, there is no incentive to do a better or worse job. But since so many people nowadays have been asking for my help, I try and put in my best effort.
As for a plan B, I've already got one of those. While writing may be my passion. Information Technology is more of a solid foundation to fall back on if my writing career never gets off the ground. Next year, I will be completing my diploma and the following year I will be university, studying Creative Writing. Something I could've only dreamed of up until now.
Lastly, as for the story. I'm already working on it. That is the cover image that inspired me to write a compelling short story about these characters. Its funny really, how a lot of my stories seem to take place in the morning and more often than not revolve around food. I'm not sure if you've read any of my stories or but if you have you might have noticed these common themes.
I am really excited about writing for such new characters. While I have written a story in Clousdale before, I've never touched these characters. So it will be fun to try and write their dialogue and interactions with each other. I've only been writing since I was eleven years old but I really think I've come along way since then.
I hope you enjoy my new story and good luck with all your future writing endeavours!
Kind Regards,
- A
