Odd observation with a disappointed rant. · 4:34pm Jul 19th, 2015
I have very recently not only been the victim of exceedingly aggressive and ignorant hateful attacks but so have my friends.
Strangely these attacks come from people who are supposedly so extremely dedicated to love and tolerance.
the definition of Bigotry is intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.
I have noticed that I hold very strong opinions on some things but never do I ever simply demand that things I do not approve of cease to exist or that people change because I want them to.
I feel like I should address the cause or try and raise awareness to fight it away. But every time I even think of it I am attacked twice as hard or just no one seems to notice.
Why is ignorance rewarded so thoroughly? No matter what side of the argument its on ignorance is treated like some sort of wonderful philosophy. "They are different, we HAVE to destroy them" There is plenty I don't approve of but no one needs my approval, and honestly I doubt anyone even WANTS my approval. That is fine with me. I only want people to act without ignorance. I know that is asking a LOT but it really shouldn't be too much.
I don't know what I should think anymore, but i do know that whatever I think someone out there will demand I am killed for thinking it and will have no problems trying to rub it in my face. I grow so damned tired of it all.
All this hate effects my work, my creativity, my quality of life.
Some dumbass over here things gays need to be burned at stake. That dumbass over there thinks that the government should euthanize people who go to church.
Why is hate and utter contempt so highly regarded in today's "brave new world"?
Its like society just hands out a list of things you have to hate in order to be a good person. And its not restricted to one political or moral side. Its on every side, on every team, with every group.
I just want some sort of reassurance that not everyone in the world is obsessed with hate. Can anyone out there just say "I don't hate anyone, even those who appose my most core values and all this hate IS drawing us back."
The world is an inverse morality amplifier. If you shine a bit of good on it, you'll get back an order of magnitude of hate in return.
Also, "love and tolerance" is a polarized term. What those people are really saying is "love me and tolerate me" - it is not a bidirectional statement.
PM me if you want a friend to chat with who won't treat you like that.
