Et Tu, Luna? Collab Review of "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?"

Hey, all! Welcome to another review of “My Little Pony”! In this review, I will cover "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?". As I have discussed before, I will lay out the standards of my reviews. If you just want to skip to the break below, feel free by all means. Here are my standards:
• How in-depth I will go into the episode will vary on the impression it made.
• I may refer to stuff almost related to the show. It depends on what I’m reminded of in the episode.
• Some of the references may be unknown to you guys, so I apologize in advance if anything confuses you. I will do my best to clarify what I mean.
• I will list the pros and cons of each episode and then sum it up.
• The last thing I will do is give the episode one or a mix of the following:
o A letter grade
o A percentage
o A number on a scale of one to ten
• I may skip over select episodes due to a low impression or personal reasons. My apologies in advance to anyone I might offend by skipping over an episode they like.
Please keep this in mind so I don’t have to worry about boring you.

Oh. Hi, everypony! It’s me, CartoonNerd12, author of “The Midnight Dance”, “Sweet Pea”, “Daughter of the Moon”, “The Phoenix Tear”, and a whole bunch of other stuff on FanFiction.net…
Hey, since when did this become a commercial? I don’t do this for my reviews. We’re supposed to be talking about critical parts of the episode, such as...Hold on.
*positions camera to face the both of them*.
Such as Luna containing her guilt for so long by creating a creature to create a single nightmare for her. I knew that the Tantabus was a Frankenstein monster made by Luna even before I saw the episode.
Oh, really? How did you know?
Well, since it was capable of creating nightmares, it had to have been born of power such as Luna’s…or Nightmare Moon’s. Personally, I was hoping that it was a creation of Nightmare Moon, but I was surprised it came from Luna instead.
Well, it sort of was Nightmare Moon. I mean, she did kind of transform into her villainous self in the beginning like in the Season 4 premiere. One thing I did notice is that the girls transformed into their Rainbow Power selves. I was like “Oh, no. That’s back again? UGGGHHH!!!”
Yes, CartoonNerd12 really hates those kinds of transformations. To her, they seemed-
They looked RIDICULOUS!
I guess one too many Winx Club episodes can do that to you.
Oh, don’t get me started on that. Anyway, let’s just focus back on the episode. Not only was I surprised that we got to see Luna’s bedroom-
It was GORGEOUS!
And that bed was awesome!
Although, it did differ greatly from what was shown in Friends Forever Issue 7. I think she might-
Have remodeled.
I was going to say “renovated”, but yeah, “remodeled” works, too.

You know, speaking of the CMC, they did show up for a bit in the episode. Do you just want to wait till later to talk about them?
Let’s. Besides, I want to bring up that Luna’s confession reminded me of a charm necklace in which there was Luna’s eye and a tear with Nightmare Moon’s face on it. Remember that?

DeviantArt. I’ll post the link below. Getting back to the point, Luna’s tears in this episode are kind of symbolic of emotional baggage. She doesn’t shed them until she forgives herself for her past misdeeds. This, to me, constitutes as crying. She’s yet another strong being who’s broken down.
Will it never cease?! First Rainbow Dash, then Shining Armor, and now Luna! Months ago, I said we would be getting a flood of ponies. I had never expected a flood of tears to follow suit! Right now, the whole “strong people breaking” thing is becoming so constant that it borders on ridiculous!

Can we please get back to the episode at hand? There’s a lot of things I want to talk about.
This is going to be one long review, even longer than the one I did with Discord. Gaah! I did it again! In every review so far, I’ve mentioned him at least one time. All right, I admit it: I’m a Discord junkie. Satisfied?
I’ll ignore that as long as we get to the point. First, there’s the girls being tired, and it’s great that we get to see all the pets again.
That part about Opalescence holding onto the banner is how I feel every time I get anxious about something.
Anyway, the girls being tired reminded me of the comic arc involving Nightmare Rarity.
They have a cool nickname for that: Nightmarity.
And I just can’t help but feel that they’re either copying the comic or the comic itself is not considered canon anymore.
I like to think that they may be recycling some material from the comic, though not entirely copying it.
And we get to the part where Luna had to go into the girls’ dreams. We finally get to see how she gets into some pony’s dreams. I just find it really cool.
That was awesome on her part. So much action and so much depth into the girls’ psyches.
I agree on that part because I especially like Pinkie’s, Rainbow’s, and Fluttershy’s dreams.
I knew that Rainbow’s dream was macho when Luna first entered.
*giggles* Me, too!
When it gets turned into a nightmare, it becomes cutesy and reminds us both of Alice in Wonderland…and preschool shows.
Mainly Barney and Teletubbies.
I hate the annoying song that the flowers sang.
Me, too. And it was creepy.
Let’s just get to the part where Luna connects…
…all the dreams of Ponyville.
Notice that CatDog reference with Lyra and BonBon?
Honestly, I did not know that until I saw the Youtube comments and I was like “Oh, my gosh! How did I not know that?”
Miss Koi seemed to have caught it early on. That’s it! I don’t think Lyra and BonBon should be considered “just friends” anymore.
Totally.

I was like, “Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh.” And I was trying really hard to contain myself.

AUUGH!
*both duck as Big Mac flies over them*

Wait, I thought it was only in a dream.
Discord! I know you’re behind this!
O-kay.
*slowly backs away from the sister*
*addresses to the audience* So anyway, it starts getting really wacky in the dream, starting with the monster houses, Flutterbat, two Power Ponies, Twilight getting her library back, and Scootaloo getting giant wings. I was like “Aww!” And then don’t get me started on Spike. I was like “WHOOAA!” I thought we would never actually see that version of him again since Season 1. I wonder what Rarity and Applejack’s reactions were on that. Yes, I am a Spike/Rarity and Spike/Applejack shipper.
Ha! You’ve been leaning more towards Applespike. I, on the other hand, don’t care just who Spike ends up with. Anyway, about what you said about not seeing Spike’s knight form since Season 1, I think this season’s a great one for callbacks. Thankfully, it’s not the end since Season 6 is already in the works. I’ve got dirt from the SDCC panel Equestria Daily covered.
Also, I’ve been told there’s a hiatus starting now.
It’s only a mini one. Trust me, I don’t take great pleasure in this as much as any pony else, but if I were some people, this would be a great opportunity to catch up on my writing before anything else happens…like, say, the new school year.
So true. Well, the Tantabus was certainly a frightening…I want to say “presence”, but…
It was a reflection of Luna’s self. I saw her outline in the monster itself.
It actually looked more like Nightmare Moon’s reflection than Luna’s.
You might have a good point there.
Shall we get to the pros and cons?
Oh, wait! One more thing: I’m glad we get to see Twilight’s bedroom for the first time! It was so beautiful.
It actually reminded me of the guest bedroom back in the Crystal Empire from Equestria Girls.
I also noticed that the bed was exactly like her bed in Friends Forever Issue 14. I think Agnes Garbowska had some sort of heads up from the creative execs about it.
Pros: We get some depth in Princess Luna’s character. She finally cried, if only two tears. This proves it! Discord might cry soon!
There were a lot of callbacks to previous episodes, even seasons! And there were some new stuff that was just as exciting to see! And possible references to the comics.
I also noticed that there was some material that somehow connected with our fanfictions. The sharing dreams bit reminded me of your fanfic “Sweet Pea” and Owlowiscious and Gummy being together (though accidentally) reminded me of my “Discord in Wonderland” story. We get to see two awesome bedrooms!
Let’s see: the connection of dreams, jumping into dreams, and what every pony’s desires are.
Cons: I don’t think there are a lot. I don’t even think I can list them. Do you have any gripes about this episode, CartoonNerd12?
Celestia not showing up.
Oh, yeah. We were both hoping she would show up. I kind of expected Luna to have her nightmare and sort of cry about it until Celestia comforts her. But I think that this episode managed to do all right on its own.
It did. It’s just that there should’ve been some sisterly moments to match what we were doing with our review today.
Oh, yeah. That would’ve made sense considering that our secret was about us being sisters.
In Summary: This was a great focal episode for Princess Luna.
It’s major characterization on her part. I love that, too.
I think I would’ve done what Luna did with her guilt. I still feel guilty about some past things to this day. The episode even pulled the PYUP…

Haha lol anyway great collab review you guys Hmm, I didn't think of that nightmare creature as the Frankenstein Monster to Frankenstein scientist Luna, but now that I think about it, I see the connection Wow, that's actually kinda pathetic since Frankenstein is my favorite monster novel I am slow today. As I was saying, thanks for the link to that cool sad Luna Tear necklace, it totally embodies Luna in this episode. Yeah, I'm definitely one of those that easily sympathizes with the monster every time, that's why I like stories like "Frankenstein" where they portray this sympathic monster classically and with depth and integrity.
Yay! You'll do a collab with me after the break Can't wait! Can you ask your sis to see if she wants to collab with me too? If she doesn't, I completely understand. Yeah, this hiatus is kind of a bummer but I'm focusing my efforts on stories, summer activities, new episodes of my other shows, and Equestria Girls 3. So maybe you can focus on stories and other shows and excitement for Equestria Girls?

After seeing my Sis's reply to you, I would like to say that of course I would like to do a collab review! In fact we should do a collab review involving when we see another Fluttercord episode! since we're both hard core shippers for it. I'm just not sure how it would work, do we just PM each other? I'll wait with what you do with my sister first then we could get together on a review. As for your question about the Friendship Games... I have seen both trailers... and I got to say... I AM STOKED! This is something worth watching, though I don't think it'll have the same epicness as Rainbow Rocks, but it'll certainly be better than the first one.
