Jane: I am 18 now, I'm an adult, I can do whatever I want.
Dad: Jane, you've always wanted to work in my company, what made you change your mind?
Jane: Working in your company did not include the mail room!
Dad: Your sister Sarah started in the mail room and worked her way up, do you think you are better than her?
Jane: *Rolls eyes* Look, can I just have my inheritance?

Ten years ago I got to play Jane Bigwig in the church play. The play was was entitled "Prodical Daughter"...
And why am I sharing this? Well... *deep breath* I can actually now stand in those shoes, looking at my life through the eyes Jane used to view her own life... as a freshly turned adult.
As far as any of the rest of you are concerned, today is my birthday. I'm not out of high school yet, and won't be till next summer But as I look forward to the coming months, I'm filled with- fear? dread? hope... I don't know I guess I'm just kind of numb. Time can be a safty net... And I guess I've been leaning on it for too long. Like Jane, What I think I want, isn't really what I want, and yet it is, or isn't. I see myself at a crossroads. The doors that have been closed have been unlocked. All I have to do, is step through.
Two years ago I wrote a poem, Hallway of life... I think it's time to add the final verse.
Lord I ask for a light swich,
I ask it be switched on,
Lord Show me what's goin' on,
As I sit here in the hallway of life.
Lord I ask for answers,
I ask for a way out,
Please help me,
To not doubt,
Why did this all happen?
How did I get where I am?
Lord please show me,
As I sit here in the hallway of life.
People walk in, others walk out,
Some sit and sing,
Others break and shout.
But I can only sit in the hallway of life.
The door opens,
It's becoming clear,
Doors are opening,
Out goes fear.
Lord thanks for the Lightswitch,
For Switching it on.
For showing me,
What's going on.
So I can fly,
And I can soar,
On your wings
Evermore.
Lovely poem..
nice poem good work

3210078 scarry thought...
3210876 I know right! Oh well, we will have to be content with what we have. Thanks.

Not the word I would use to describe it. There's no sudden change at stake here; you will continue to develop yourself at the same rate you have before. There's not supposed to be some divine understanding you achieve at 18. Just let yourself grow like you always have. Legal adult stuff aside, your age doesn't change even the tiniest facet of who you are.
3211552 yeah, as a person I didn't change, but so much else will.
3211643
You'd think so, but I really didn't notice anything. Especially looking back on my life at that point, there was nothing noteworthy that happened when I turned 18.
3211846 I'll be getting a drivers licence... I've got to get back to my equine school... That's going to happen next month... Um... There is quite the list of things I have to do.
3211885
You can get your license at 16 years old. You've waited an additional 2 years to get on that one.
3211886 I had had just had a head injury and a seizure... So I was not allowed to learn to drive till I hit the two year mark after it, Seizure free. Which I have been.

That's not representative of your being an adult, is all I'm saying.
3211916 I Have to get an ID anyways. Right now I can't get out books, because I have to get it switched over into my name. I can't put any money into the bank, or out of it. Becuase I don't have an ID... And it's not in my name.
I'm just waiting on Dad, but since he has three part time jobs, this gets interesting.
