One Month Late, EFNW and plans. · 7:33am Jun 28th, 2015

Howdy all.

So, it's been a while. EFNW took a lot out of me this year because, well, organizing the venue layout and 121 events with only 2 months kept me pretty busy. On the bright side Bronyville, the primer Brony Podcast, said it was one the best cons they have been to in years, brony or otherwise.

So I got that going for me, which is nice. It was also pretty fun, even if I did have to spend a lot of my weekend helping other departments. Surprisingly, my favorite panel of the con was the Ask Granny Smith Panel. For those who don't know there is a vendor that is a grandma, granddaughter pair and they cosplay as AJ and Granny. And when I say cosplay I mean the grandma is basically granny smith already. So the room filled up and we basically just listened to Granny talk and answer questions for 45 minutes.

Another highlight was getting drunk and talking philosophy with Gary Oak.

Anyway, I put a lot of things off to get the con done, including writing. Things like, oh, moving, applying for a new job, getting a new car. I also applied to be the con chair next year because reasons.

The good news is that I'm writing again. About 2k words over the past week in fact across 2-3 different projects. It doesn't sound like a lot but that includes re-reading the fics and doing some minor edits as well. I have one one fic that I was working on before the con that's now at 7k, another one or two that poped into my head sense the con that I may or may not finish, and a few changes from EQD to get Dear Diary: Sunset Shimmer's Best Friend on EQD. It's just a few changes to the last chapter.

Speaking of Sunset Shimmer, that reminded me that I have a special order Sunset Shimmer jerzy that I am getting from Snuggle T's. I didn't buy a lot at Everfree but I got some pins (Zecora and Sunset Shimmer of course), a Ponyfinder griffin, and a zecora money clip from Silver Slinger.

Lastly, I have an original book that I've been working on this past year. Getting 60k words just for notes wasn't so hard, but turning that into a story is a different story. I have my voice and I've finally narrowed down the main character into something acceptable (think a mix between Fluttershy and AJ of all things). The biggest issue was realizing that I needed to wright the story in 1st person. I made that change a while ago but for some reason it took me a while to get there. The story has progressed well into the second chapter sense then compared to 3-4 rewrites of the 1st when I tried to make it work first person.

So that's what I've been doing and what I have in the works. I hope to have something out in July for you all, it may be something small or it may be 15k depending on what I am motivated to work on. If you're lucky I get both in. I also hope to do one blog on writing to help get back into the swing of things.
