So, I changed my name a bit.

Now before you lot start thinking I've been getting into the rum, let me explain.

So, as some of you remember, the last picture of me in the flesh I put up here about a year ago, and some of you commented even then that I looked like a pirate due to me growing my hair and goatee out.

Well, I kept growing it and now, thanks to my Jewish blood, I literally look like Jesus.

Can Someone Summarize this Blasted Show?

So, As you all know, I left the fandom for a while, and I'm now trying to get in some faculty back into it. However, I've run into a problem: apparently I've missed a lot since the Season 4 finale. So, what I'm asking of you my dear followers, is there any way y'all can bring me up to speed on what's been going on with all this? I don't have enough time to catch up on last season, or even the

    School's Out For Winter!

Yep, just got my transcript for the semester after a particularly long finals season. 4 B's in Medieval European History, Modern East Asian History, Leadership and Interpersonal Skills, and History of Alabama, rounding it out with a solid A in Leadership Theory. Needless to say, I'm relieved.

    I Can't Stop!

I should probably be working on the paper due in an hour and a half, or at least on my story.

Instead, I can't pull my eyes away from this.

Chapter 87: In Which The Pirate King Decided to Return... · 2:44am Jun 16th, 2015

Narrator: Last Time, on Pirate King Fowler's blog:

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm afraid I'm leaving the fandom for waters unknown.

I am inviting the lot of you to come follow my literary blog at The Thinking Bench to stay in touch and see what new projects I'm working on.

With steadfast loyalty,
Pirate King Fowler

Narrator: And now, the exciting resumption of our hero's quest finds him in his own mind, captured in a painfully forced narrative joke his own subconscious.

P.K. Fowler: <Pirate King sits on a couch, playing Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, a sullen and tired expression on his face>

J.L. Fowler: <Enters carrying boxes that say New Projects, surprised by Pirate King> Hey, this area is off limits. Vagrants are to go to the Cerebull- Wait, Pirate King? Is that you?

P.K. Fowler: <Looks up from the game sluggishly> Oh, Jason? That you? Huh, been a while. <Resumes his trance with the game>

J.L. Fowler: I'll say. I thought you moved on whenever we left fimfiction a while back. Have you been here doing... this the whole time?

P.K. Fowler: Yep. One more collectible and I'll have 100%. It's always the damn letters in bottles that get me. I don't do much else anymore anyways.

J.L. Fowler: I thought we already beat this once before.

P.K. Fowler: We did. Since we left fimfiction I've been restarting it and playing it over. I think I'm at number 23 now... or maybe 27. I don't know.

J.L. Fowler: Well, whatever makes you happy I guess.

P.K. Fowler: <groan> Something like that.

J.L. Fowler: What do you mean?

P.K. Fowler: <puts down controller> I mean I'm just so bloody unhappy now.

J.L. Fowler: <gently lowers his boxes and sits down on the couch with Pirate King> What's got you so angry, bud?

P.K. Fowler: It's not even that I'm angry, Jason. I'm just so damn empty and bored.

J.L. Fowler: But why? Everything's been looking up the last few months! We've been getting far healthier than we've been in years, had plenty of free time, hell we've even been doing better in school- save for that whole red wine incident in finals week of course. What is there to lament?

P.K. Fowler: ... Jason... Do you ever miss the old days with fimfiction?

J.L. Fowler: <Pauses, surprised> Umm, I haven't thought about it much lately...

P.K. Fowler: I'm in your head, kid. I know when you're lying.

J.L. Fowler: Well, it doesn't matter. We left, Pirate King.

P.K. Fowler: We could still go back.

J.L. Fowler: But we don't belong there. We left the fandom. You don't even watch MLP anymore.

P.K. Fowler: It's a fandom, Jason. So what, you are a little critical of the series. So what, you don't currently watch the show. So what, you think that Seasons 1 & 2 are superior to any of the new seasons; the fact that you hold that opinion means on some level you give a damn about this fandom.

J.L. Fowler: But we left our followers behind and alienated them. If we return, we'll seem wishy washy at best and look like a cowardly bandwagon jumper at worst. I bet they wouldn't even like us anymore, if they even remembered us at all.

P.K. Fowler: <Points to the 121 followers tab on user page> 121 people would say they didn't forget.

J.L. Fowler: Whoa... You mean I left, said all that stuff about the fandom, and most of them still didn't unfollow me?

P.K. Fowler: Do you remember why we joined this fandom three years ago? It wasn't for the show; it was good, but had the show been the only factor you probably wouldn't have been involved. It was the people. It was the fans whose fervor to appreciate the show. It was the artists who crafted stories and music and visual art worthy of professionals for not a single dime, but only for love of the show. It was the feeling of knowing that those people and you shared a connection- as writer, as critic, as teacher, and as friend- that drew you to this fandom, and even if you don't love the show much anymore, you miss that fandom more than you are willing to admit.

J.L. Fowler: <Pensive silence> We should go back, Pirate King.

P.K. Fowler: <Smiles widely and unplugs the xbox> Aye, lad. That we should.

J.L. Fowler: I've got to go get these new projects to the short term memory before I forget, but you go ahead and I'll catch up. Oh, that reminds me, you know how we told the followers that we started a blog?

P.K. Fowler: Aye...

J.L. Fowler: ... and then we changed to a tumblr blog because the old one's UI was impossibly frustrating without telling them?

P.K. Fowler: ... Oh, metrical fuck.

J.L. Fowler: Maybe we should give them a new link so they can get there and see your new projects.

P.K. Fowler: Good idea. Oh, one more thing. Don't you think we should make it up to our followers about neglecting the site so long?

J.L. Fowler: Hmmm... How bout writing that one shorter fic we never did? I think we still have enough love for that one character to still be inspired.

P.K. Fowler: Alright. I'll get on it.

Narrator: And so Pirate King got back into character and returned to the fandom to reunite with friends and colleagues. What will become of our hero? Find out next week on-

P.K. Fowler: Jesus fuck mothering Christ!!!! 6280 notifications?!?!
