    Holiday Bundle 2023 Playlist!

Happy holidays, everybody! I'm sorry I'm late for sharing this playlist of 12 videos that I've been working on since this fall! Although I did post them on YouTube for Christmas, I shared it only on X that day and not anywhere else. Shame on me.:facehoof: It includes videos centered around The Bad Guys, Kung Fu Panda, The Owl House, Netflix's The Monkey King, and more! I'm very

    #RewriteWish Fan Project

So, quite unexpectedly, I've launched a fan project to basically make a different version of Disney's latest film Wish. I haven't seen the film yet, but from what I gathered from the online reviews, it sounded very generic, two-toned, and pretty dissatisfying. When I discovered the concepts and ideas that were deleted from the movie, I wrote my own version of the story. Not knowing how to

    Survey for Definitive Disney Ranking

Hi! I wanted to share this survey with you all. In it, participants can rate the 60 Disney animated features by using the star system. The responses will help me compile a DEFINITIVE ranking of the films in the Disney Animated Canon. I created the survey because a lot of people have various films listed as their number one and I want to be as objective as I can. You can use the first link below

Coincidence or Fate? My Review of "Slice of Life" · 8:39pm Jun 15th, 2015

Spoiler Alert! Do not continue on unless you’ve seen the episode/s! If you wish to continue, read at your own risk. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Hey, all! Welcome to another review of “My Little Pony”! In this review, I will cover "Slice of Life". As I have discussed before, I will lay out the standards of my reviews. If you just want to skip to the break below, feel free by all means. Here are my standards:
• How in-depth I will go into the episode will vary on the impression it made.
• I may refer to stuff almost related to the show. It depends on what I’m reminded of in the episode.
• Some of the references may be unknown to you guys, so I apologize in advance if anything confuses you. I will do my best to clarify what I mean.
• I will list the pros and cons of each episode and then sum it up.
• The last thing I will do is give the episode one or a mix of the following:
o A letter grade
o A percentage
o A number on a scale of one to ten
• I may skip over select episodes due to a low impression or personal reasons. My apologies in advance to anyone I might offend by skipping over an episode they like.
Please keep this in mind so I don’t have to worry about boring you.
Here’s my review of "Slice of Life"!

*****

This review will be made in memory of Dream Land.
I guess the title for this episode seems highly appropriate, given the circumstances in both Equestria and our world. I suppose I should just get this out of the way before I talk about the episode. Over two weeks ago, I announced that I would be writing a Discord fanfiction that would raise awareness for cancer. When I requested an OC of someone I would dedicate my fanfiction to, I certainly never expected that that OC would belong to an actual FIMFiction member. This member, Dream Land, was fighting valiantly for her life when I met her. We only exchanged words for less than a week before she unexpectedly passed away. Thankfully, she told me enough about her OCs before time ran out.
I’m sorry to begin this review on a sad note, but considering what Dream Land had been through, I felt that she needed a dedication. One more thing I’d like to say is that I want to thank Shine for putting her in contact with me. If it weren’t for these two girls, I don’t think I would’ve improved for the better.
All right, now let’s talk about the episode!
As you all know, “Slice of Life” marks an incredible milestone for MLP: its 100th episode! Not very many shows I’ve heard about make it to 100 episodes, but MLP is definitely one of the lucky ones. Another show that had successfully aired 100 episodes (and more) before cancelling was Star Wars: The Clone Wars. One of the reasons I bring up this particular show is that its 100th episode, “Missing in Action”, aired on my birthday! What’s amazing now is that “Slice of Life” aired on another special occasion (by very creepy timing): my parents’ wedding anniversary! It should also be noted that a relative of mine held his wedding on the exact day this episode aired! Now you can see why I decided to name this review “Coincidence or Fate?”.
At first, I wasn’t expecting much from the episode (despite all of the teasers I saw), but it practically blew me away! I guess the crew for the show wasn’t kidding about going all out for this episode. “Slice of Life” pulled the old PYUP principle…again and again. There were some things I was expecting (hi, Steven Magnet!) and yet things I didn’t see coming. For instance, who would’ve thought that Shining Armor cries at weddings?
Out of all the surprises this episode pulled, this one was the most unexpected. I half-expected it to be Discord, but I was equally ecstatic that it was Shining Armor. It makes for a perfect clip for my spoof on The Rugrats Movie. Spoiler alert: I cast Shining Armor and Cadance as Stu and Didi Pickles, Tommy and Dil’s parents.:raritywink:
*phone rings*
Hello?
I’m the king of the unexpected.
Discord! You made me anxious waiting for you to show up in the episode! Now all of a sudden, you decide to call me during my review!
*chuckles* What can I say? Well, as I was saying, you expect me to cry during certain moments, but let me tell you: the moment I cry is the moment you least expect it. How’s that for a hint?
Well, that’s a very vague hint.
I know. You don’t know if it applies to the series or the movie. Whoops!
What did you say?
I gotta go! Bye-bye!
*call ends*
That was certainly interesting. Hmmm…Well, anyway, getting back to the subject at hand. Shining Armor has just been added to the list of strong characters who’ve cried so far this season. I must say, that was one heck of a Eureka release from Shiny. This only further supports my theory that the strong will break in Season 5. All I can say now is…bring on the waterworks!
I noticed there were some things that became canon and others that were entirely different. Not being into the whole background pony fandom, I can honestly say I know only a bit about what the fans want and/or expect. I’m afraid I’m lost when it comes to that type of fandom. One thing I did notice, however, was that Derpy (now called “Muffins”) and Doctor Hooves (or “the Doctor”) had all the signs of a shipping. My sister wanted me to point out that we both noticed that the relationship between Lyra Heartstrings and Bon Bon (aka Agent Sweetie Drops) might be more than just friends. Honestly, these names can be so confusing inside or outside of canon!
One of my most favorite parts of the entire episode was the sequence where Octavia Melody and DJ PON-3 were rushing to the wedding. I like to refer to this scene as the “Electric Cello Dubstep” scene. It has some of my favorite elements in a show/movie: intensity, fast pace, and excitement. My favorite part of the whole sequence was the slow-mo scene. I enjoyed it so much that I had to play it over and over again. Seriously, I couldn’t stop.
I was surprised to hear Gummy speak (mentally, that is). The way he spoke philosophically made him sound so intelligent. I admit that I had a hard time understanding what Gummy thought, but after replaying it a few times (more or less), I comprehended just about every word of his mental speech. One word I thought I heard was “caterer”, only for it to be “gator” instead. The same thing happened when I watched a Clone Wars episode. When Jar Jar said, “Well, uh…mesa more of a deep thinker”, I thought I heard “cheap”, not “deep”. :twilightsheepish:
I believe that Gummy’s monologue foreshadows a certain event in the future. Care to guess what it might be? I think that when Gummy licks his eyeball, it’s symbolic of wiping away tears. Maybe, just maybe. It’s also nice to see Celestia and Luna bicker like real sisters. It reminds me of my sister and me and also adds some realism to a sibling relationship.
I would like to say a few more things before I get to the pros and cons:
1. I’m surprised that Button Mash didn’t speak.
2. As soon as I read about a hidden frame in the episode, I replayed the “Electric Cello Dubstep” segment and caught the frame at the exact moment. Very sneaky, directors. Very sneaky.:ajsmug:
Pros: It’s the 100th episode of the series! We get to hear some of the characters’ voices for the first time. We also see some character development for the background ponies. Yay, tear fest! Okay, I was expecting maybe a few tears, but not that many! I cannot tell you how overjoyed I am right now. The wedding was beautiful, truly.
Cons: There are not that many, but there are some that I would like to list. Steven Magnet didn’t exactly help alleviate Matilda’s pre-wedding jitters. As I have mentioned in my phone call with Discord, I was anxious to see him in the episode. When he didn’t appear, I was relieved yet disappointed (again).:ajbemused:
In Summary: This was a great episode, actually. I hadn’t expected much from it, but being the special episode it was, it pulled the PYUP more than once. I must commend the crew and cast on their spectacular work on this milestone occasion. Give them a round of applause, folks!
My rating: 9; A-

One More Thing:

I have only recently learned that the great Sir Christopher Lee passed away on June 7th. It’s amazing because he and Dream Land might’ve died within hours of each other. I would like to pay my respects to these two wonderful people and wish them a peaceful afterlife.

R.I.P Dream Land and Christopher Lee

See you till the next episode!

First off: My deepest love and all my prayers to sweet and strong and brave Dream Land, along with her family and her friends and you. Her story and your friendship with her will always be remembered, and she will is a guardian angel for all she loved and for all those with brain cancer. God bless her and all other individuals and children just like her. God bless you for helping her story living on and making an story about her OC. We need more awareness about brain cancer and how we can help find a cure. As soon as your story posts up, I will read it, review it, and post a blog post about it to all my followers.
Alright, on to your review: Aww that's so cute and funny that your parents wedding anniversary was on the day of this episode:rainbowkiss: Haha lol your reaction and guss to Shining's crying:yay:! Along with your list of strong characters that cry, priceless! Haha yay your sister pointed out what I thought of Lyra and Bon Bon's relationship!:raritystarry: Haha yes,I knew that Discord was behind the shengians in this episode!
Did u see my review by the way?

Nice review.
Oh, and were was Steven for the last four seasons? Boys night with Cranky or spas the whole time?

3153549 Thank you so much for the kind words about Dream Land. This would mean a lot to her.
Thank you for offering to spread the word to your followers. It would be such a nice gesture.:pinkiehappy:
Thank you commenting on my review. Yes, I have read your review and I'm quite surprised to learn that there was a couple like Cranky and Matilda on Downton Abbey. You know, they're not the only couple to marry late in life. Lou and Lulu Pickles from Rugrats are another elderly couple.

3154019 Oh, I'm sure Steven was spending most of his time fawning over his reflection and keeping beautiful.:rainbowlaugh:

That's right :raritywink: They did get married, in the second Rugrats and they are so cute together:heart: I love Rugrats too:derpytongue2:
