Twilight awaited outside of the town hall. The door had mysteriously locked itself, but she was content to see her big brother and sister afterward. The final vows were taken, and after a moment or two the ponies dispersed. The crowd passed by her murmuring of how beautiful that was along with other random conversations, and then out came Cadance and Shining Armor... along with a small changeling in tow.
"Hey there Shi-I-I..." Twilight leaned to right to get a look around her older brother to see the little creature behind him. Her mouth opened a few times, trying to find the right words but all that came out was, "Uh..." She tentatively rose her hoof and pointed to it.
"Hm?" Shining Armor glanced back. "Oh!" He let out a nervous laugh. "Right, her."
"Shining Armor, please tell me you did not forget to tell Twilight about her." An uncharacteristic scowl donned Cadance's face. "You said you were going to write a letter to her about this a month ago."
"I couldn't figure out how to word it." Shining Armor turned from his rather pretty, and rather annoyed wife back to Twilight. "Um, about two months ago a diplomat from Chrysalis' hive delivered a message to the Empire and... Twily, meet your niece, Princess Thorn."
The nymph walked out from behind Shining Armor to his side, and then waved at Twilight. "Hello, Auntie Twilight," she said before giving a large smile.

How weird is it that we took an episode about background characters and focus on the characters that were even farther in the background?
In my fanon, Twilight could have been called "Auntie" by many of the most dangerous members of High Queen Chrysalis' Swarms during the Great Changeling War of 1513-15. Why? Because -- in Cadance's guise, she mated at least once with Shining Armor, and Changeling Royals can voluntarily store sperm and use it for years after even a single mating. This was one of the many nasty little nightmares Chrysalis inflicted upon them.
Crying at weddings? Cadance and Shining are both lucky Shining doesn't gibber madly and howl at the sky. But then Cadance is a trained psychologist with a sanity-restoring Talent, and was more than a little bit invested in this particular patient's cure.
Oh, and in my fanon, Cadance and Shining both hate Queen Chrysalis about as much as possible given that neither of them is particularly fond of hatred as an emotion. Chyrsalis raped Shining body and mind, and that's not the sort of thing that one can fully forgive.
