Life of Syn - Marriage (with Copious Coltcuddling) · 5:46am Jun 13th, 2015

(Stealing this format from Bad_Seed_72, because she's so much better at this than me. Hopefully the pictures all work.)

My soon-to-be-husband is sitting next to me right now, putting the finishing touches on his vows. We just got back from a grooms' dinner with the wedding party after our rehearsal. The venue is ready, the food is ready, and the rings are beautiful (even if we're going to get them tweaked after the ceremony).

In less than 24 hours, I'm going to be married, and life is absolutely wonderful.

I was talking to a counselor this past year, and she asked me what marriage was about, in my mind. At the time, I didn't really have an answer. Part of me thought it was kind of just the next thing - now that same-sex marriage is legal in MN, why not? I'd been brought up in a world where the dream is to marry, have some kids, and settle down. That's not really what I want for myself, since I think the term "settling down" has a connotation of giving up on the adventures in life.

And I don't want that. I want companionship, for sure, but finding love doesn't have to mean stopping the adventure. It means a whole new adventure, one that will enrich your life in ways you never thought possible. I've realized that what I want in a partner is someone to laugh with, someone I can enjoy the world with, who won't ever give up on the fun.

I'm lucky, because I've found him. He's an amazing man, and I hope you get to meet him someday. He's kind, generous, focused, and sexy as literal fuck.

He's always got a new side to him for me to appreciate...

...and he puts up with all of my nonsense.

He's someone I can count on. When times are rough, he's right there to pick me up and keep me going.

And when things are going well, he's right there with me, to remind me what I'm doing it all for.

And when all else fails, when I don't know how to move forward or it seems like I've hit a brick wall, he's my inspiration to keep going. He makes me push myself harder, strive to be better, and reach ever higher. It's amazing what he can do to me with just a cuddle.

I hope you all find your own Braeburn (or Soarin') someday. Whether your journey together be romantic or adventurous or deeply fascinating (and hopefully all three), I wish you all the best in finding the best pony or ponies for you.

Take care, and wish me luck. I'm about to start a wonderful new chapter of my life.

D'awww. This blog is adorable! I'm glad you found your soulmate, Syn! And you're right... Getting married doesn't have to be "settling down". There's still a lot more adventure in store for both of you! :ajsmug:

I find it flattering that you stole my format! I think you did an excellent job, if I may so myself! :raritywink: As for me, well, I'm looking for an Applejack or a Twilight, rather than a Soarin or a Braeburn, but I know she's out there... just gotta keep looking.

it's a shame you couldn't make the con, but good luck doing all that mature sensible pony stuff tomorrow

I have to say I quite like the format. The pictures all appear to work well and they complement your writing wonderfully, emphasizing the intended feelings.

Your husband sounds like an incredible guy and I'm delighted to hear how well he complements you and how deep your feelings for him go. I'm happy you were able to find him and share your adventures with him. Marriage to me is less of a settling down affair and more of a confirmation of what love exists and the intention to share one another's life together no matter the adventures and challenges that may yet lie in wait.

All that's left for me to do is wish you the best of luck in this new chapter of adventures to come alongside your husband.
