The title says it all. I'm back from Washington D.C. and I'm ready to start rolling out the chapters!
But first, let me tell you about the trip. So I went and saw a lot of Memorials, for instance the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Pentagon Memorial, etc. Lots of people have unfortunately died in D.C.'s past I'm afraid. There was the Arlington Cemetery where the Kennedys were buried and soldiers from WWI and WWII are kept. Most of the places my class and I visited were a bit morbid but we had a nice time anyhow.
The White House was amazing! It looked just like the pictures! But the thing is, they barracked the area around the White House's fence and so you can't even walk up to touch the grass on the other side of it. If you did that, you'd have to hop over the barrack. But no one was willing to do so since there was a guy with a rifle right there. There also was a man on the roof with a machine gun. I definitely felt safe alright!
When my class was taking a group picture on the Lincoln Memorial steps, a bunch of Asian people started taking our picture and saying things in their native language. We were really confused because it was very random of them to do that. The Indian families and Hispanics just walked around us normally, but this one Asian man was shouting "1, 3, 4, OK!"
I'm guessing he meant "1, 4, 3" since that stands for I love you but I doubt it. He more than likely was trying to say 1, 2, 3. I don't know.
So, for those of you who are going to visit the Flight 93 Memorial in the years to come I'm excited for you! The memorial is still being built right now but we got exciting news. My school's name will be etched in the Memorial's walls when the structure is completed!
'CLEVELAND SCHOOL OF THE ARTS' will one day be placed on the wall. Well, have a great day!
