Apparently everyone missed the part where Luna was talking about how the curse only reacts negatively if feelings for the focus of the curse already existed...

Naw man, that part was just confusing.
Also, this post only fixes things for people who read their feed.

"Based on how that creature may has't felt ere, t'will become obsessed with either the destruction or protection of the object of focus."

Yeah, no. This isn't actually sufficient information.
It says that the affected individual will destroy or protect a target, and it says that the the chosen actions are dependent on the prior feelings of the individual, but it does not say what feelings result in which actions.

For all we know, prior apathy results in violence and prior hatred results in protectiveness.
No one missed anything.

Possible side suggestion: If people don't like the current potion idea, how about changing the potion to where she's more honest of her feelings? Like a truth serum. Different kinds of shenanigans and drama will ensue.

I just felt like certain connections weren't being made...

I think people are mostly upset because I said the curse is cast through ingestion. I didn't realize how similar to a roofie that sounded, and how rapey that sounded. If anything, I'll change that.

The curse itself is pretty important :ajsleepy:

Well, the it sounds kind of rapey because....
it is???
First off, a person's mind in real life is nearly an impenetrable castle. Even if it isn't totally true, we think of minds as being both sacred and invincible. Anything which goes against that is just kind of wrong to us.

So, when discord did literally anything which caused twilight to think something other then what SHE would have thought... his only real defense is that he is a confirmed psychopath from a species which would have reasonable misunderstanding of how other creatures view personal growth as is indicated by his ability to force others to become "discorded", his supposed tyranny of humor, and his easy manipulation by anyone he calls friend. Simply put, he is significantly less then a hop, skip, and a jump from raping her mind.

The whole premise of your story was stated and/or implied in the title: individuals have incredulous disapproval at twilight for appearing to be interested in discord. Well, turns out they were right! No one can be and no one is interested in him and any attempt at a relationship is a massive danger. By extension, the real life people who people say you shouldn't start a relationship with should also be avoided. Now, we are going watch him try anyway and also be the main character. So, I guess we will be supporting him in his mistake despite understanding he is wrong or else disagreeing with everything the main character does and hoping for him to just stop and go home? Really no idea what you are doing at this point. It probably would be very entertaining in a horrifying way watching him try to foster a relationship while trying to enrage her legitimately without understanding what a personality is. Maybe that word "legitimately" is the key and test here? I am rather beyond spitballing at this point and will just sotp

First of all, the spell isn't designed to actually make her fall in love with him. It's meant to give the illusion of love, and Luna says that one who is under the spell cannot feel anything real.

Secondly, if the target had feelings for the caster before hand, then they become obsessed with destroying/spiting them. They lash out at those around them, etc. If the target didn't have feelings for the caster before, then they'd simply be obsessed with their protection like an over protective mom without any love involved.

Apparently I wasn't clear enough, but I'd put hints in throughout the story that Twilight has inexplicable urges to get Discord, to vex him. Hopefully my future chapters explain this more...
