Light Despondent has just updated! And minor changes have been made. For example, you may notice that the cover has changed. That's thanks to Jed - he used the magic of photoshop to create a new one. If you look closely, you can see Heliotrope, Yael, and Aegis being added in. Which is important - they get big roles in the next few chapters.
Also, the chapter names have been changed up. This was so I could make even ''more'' references to Biting Elbows. And various other bands, but mostly Biting Elbows. It's hilarious how easy it is for me to link Biting Elbows songs to Kraber's life. Just about all of them can summarize some aspect of his life, especially The Light Despondent.
Trains!
Because TB3 does this, I figured I might as well write something about this. See, as in Last Train, every locomotive here is based on a real train.
I actually took that picture myself. Unlike TB3, I'm not a train nerd, (at least, not as much of one) but I just went with what I know. The 501 is mostly for display nowadays, but it felt right to resurrect it a bit for the story. Kraber is right, by the way - it actually is designed to carry freight. That said, it's currently in an area with tight curves and it's required to climb about halfway up a mountain valley, so its ruggedness is a bit of an asset. Expect it to return in about 7 chapters when this flashes forward to 2023.
This 44-ton switcher. For some reason, wikipedia doesn't seem to acknowledge its existence. I know the Conway scenic has two of them, though.
Any questions that whoever reads this asks, I'll be happy to address them in another blog.
I'll check the chapter out later. As for the editing on the next few drafts, I'm sorry to say I might not be around this week as I'd hoped, since it looks like I'll have to send my laptop in for a repair, and I hate using my phone or my iPad to access GoogleDocs.
