Remember That Guilty Pleasure Of Mine? Well, Now There's Money Involved! · 2:04am Apr 6th, 2015
I love SpikeDash. Not sure why, not sure how, but I do. Despite everything in my head saying "no, this is wrong, it shouldn't work", there's just something about it that clicks with me. I guess it helps that I like both of the characters and have an affinity for unusual shipping pairs. Actually, that's probably the whole reason right there. No point to wondering anymore.
But I digress. The SpikeDash Group, founded by yours truly but mostly maintained by bros Vexy and YourNeighborhoodAlicorn, is having a competiton hosted by the later of those two fine gentlemen, for which the first of those two--and the equally phabulous B_25--are giving out monetary prizes. Yes, that's right, any one of you can make money writing fanfiction about technicolor talking horses from a little girl's TV show. Ain't it magical?
The thread for the contest can be found HERE, and the details are as follows:
The awards:
$35 for 1st place
$25 for 2nd
$15 for third.
The judges:
YourNeighborhoodAlicorn
BikerDash
Steadfast Hoof
The rules:
The theme of this competition is "Rivalry", and any story submitted should fit that theme.
Stories should be between 1,000 and 10,000 words.
All stories are due by April 27th.
Clop is allowed, as long as it is relevant to the theme.
I mean, I'm obviously going to destroy the competition, but you can all have fun fighting for second place.
WHY ARE THE SHIPPING CONTESTS THAT PAY CASH FOR SHIPS I HATE?
Ahem, I mean, good luck.

As I recall, you have a group with a certain unnamed ship that has a vibrant community and almost two thousand members that I'm sure would love the idea of a competition with cash prizes. Maybe you should ask around and see if any of those AppleDashers have some spare change.

Also, I'll forgive you for that remark of yours, just this once. But don't cross me again, I assure you I can whine loudly when I'm upset

Probably because I have a little more money than sense right now, so I thought I'd help out and challenge some fellow writers.
I'm surprised AppleDash doesn't have many cash prizes in competition. I guess it does feel a little, perhaps desperate on my part? Even if that wasn't my intention. I'll have to throw some money in for AppleDash or TwiJack sometime. :)

For prizes, we usually try to
contalk some artist into offering a commission, or someone offers steam games or something. Me and Tcherno and Dbz don't have a lot of money, so we try to come up with prizes without having to spend much. I think one time Techerno offered to pay a commission from a artist who did figurines.I guess the difference is that with SpikeDash being a much smaller ship, you kind of need an offer like that to drum up fics. With AppleDash, we can pretty much count on our usual writers writing something they'd usually write, and it's just a matter of encouraging them to do it by a deadline, so cash has never really been necessary.
... And you like SpikeDash, you say?
