This author is never boring, and that’s a good thing. This is the third story I’ve read by this guy. First one I really liked, second one I didn’t really understand, and this one is kind of in the middle. Every story is a combination of what the author puts on the page and what’s already in the reader’s mind, but this is one that I feel like my brain is only interacting with like 90% of the author’s part. Anyway, this was quite good. My tastes and this author’s tastes have almost no common ground, from what comments on other sites I’ve seen, but he does know how to write a good story.

That was silly. Which is about the only thing I have to say about it. Very silly. Though Princess Celestia looking at porn magazines is a funny image.

Weird. I somehow missed writing this one down after I read it. Another lost story review discovered by editing the huge list. I remember putting it on the first list, but apparently didn’t get around to writing down what I thought about it. So this one will be mostly from memory. I liked this one. Had good worldbuilding for the buffalo, interesting backstory for Daring Do, and a nice look at modern industrialization of Equestria. I vaguely remember having one or two specific things I wanted to comment about, but I thought I wrote them down so my memory let them go. Oh well. This was a good story and I’ll probably read it again sometime in the future.

Cool little what if story. Nice little twist at the end. It is a neat alternate look at how the conflict between the royal sisters could have happened that is different than anything else I’ve seen addressing the topic. The second chapter with the extra bits was also well done. I’m a sucking for a story told through letters like that. Where the events are just a empty space outlined by the letters, but almost never directly referenced. The second chapter wouldn’t be as effective on it’s own, but with the full story in the first chapter it becomes quite a good read.

A sad story, but not in a bad way. If we picture depression and hurt sadness as sharp downward lines on a graph, then the sad in this story is a more gentle curve downward. The bottom half of a sine wave of joy above the line and sad below the line, two matched emotions that slowly change from one to the other and back again. This one got me right in the feels. Been a while since a story has managed to do that. Not sure if I sould call it a good feeling, getting a bit sad, but I’ve certainly missed the whole getting emotionally effected by the story thing.
Half of the review.
As always, The Big Master Review List is here: { THE MASTER LIST }
If you know of a text-format reviewer I'm not keeping track of, please let me know and I'll see if they meet the criteria to be assimilated into the list.
If you are an author who wants a more detailed review of a story I've covered feel free to message me. My reviews tend to be fairly light, mostly just reactions to a story right after reading it. I am happy to give a more careful read and reply to anyone who wants more precision and/or feedback. It might take a while, as more precision means I need to actually think about things instead of just doing stream of consciousness typing.
