Okay... so I'll be blunt.
I lost the chapter.
The entire freaking chapter.
I spent a while writing the next chapter to Constant earlier today. Got to a good stopping point so I could go back and edit it. I tried to save the work, but for WHATEVER REASON, Fimfiction wouldn't let me save the chapter. It said I wasn't logged in or something like that. Seeing that, I tried to log in from a different tab, but I found that I actually WAS logged in. Still didn't save. So I tried opening up a new browser and try from there. Once again, it said I was logged in already. STILL didn't save. Seeing that I would lose all my work if I didn't save it somewhere, I went to place my work into a word doc.
Simple right?
WRONG
Before I could save the word doc... MY COMPUTER RESET ITSELF SO IT COULD MAKE AN UPDATE.
TL: DR - Fimfiction is broken for me and my computer reset while I was trying to save the chapter.
So... I lost it. All of it.
Gone.
Looks like I still can't update.
AGAIN.
Good lord. I'm beginning to think that the universe hates me or something. Or some douche of a hacker is seriously screwing with me.
Or the amalgamation of everything has simply pin pointed me to have a shitty time trying to write ONE CHAPTER.
Whatever the reason, I now have to start the chapter from scratch. I'll manage, but I'm still pretty upset about that. Also, Fimfic is STILL not letting me save my work, so even if I DO finish the chapter on a separate word doc (Which I apparently SHOULD have done anyway) I can't publish it. I'll try to figure out what's going on. Might be an issue on my end. Might be a server issue. I don't know. just don't expect anything from me for a while.
Oh well I suppose... Think Freely my Friends.
P.S. If anyone else is having/has had this issue, PLEASE let me know so we might be able to figure out the issue.
If you use firefox (or possibly even chrome), there are addons that save text in forms and such. The Fimfiction edit chapter box is considered such. The Firefox addon I use is called Lazarous: Form Recovery. Every couple seconds, it saves a copy of what you type into a form, even down to the textbox. Right clicking the textbox can let you recover the stuff. It obviously won't help you recover the chapter, but in the future (if you install it), it would. It saves that information between sessions and such, so if a random restart happens, you'll only lose a few seconds of progress.
