Okay. I have seen several comments expressing concern over the suggestion of Friendship and Space Magic working with a few artists belonging to the Displaced group. Let's try and settle this in one go.
I have seen many comments expressing worry over the story quality dropping because of a reputation the group seems to have gained. To them I say I see your point and, again, respect your opinion and appreciate how much you value this story I worked to make. I only ask you remember these things before assuming the worst.
1) I'm not rushing into this without thinking it through. There are backdoors and contingencies left to make sure the writing itself doesn't suffer. At worst, this may be a onetime chapter and/or lead to a separate story elsewhere.
2) Technically, all stories (good or bad) are counted as fanfic on site simply for the fact that it can never make professional publish as it borrows an existing from somewhere. They are just amateur works. I am no exception. Just trying to have fun while improving skills.
3) This story is in its infancy and I am well aware that it may evolve into something that's not suited for the displaced universe. That's why I brought the chapter Side Story: Meeting the Neighbors and Networking in as a separate side piece, even threw in the 'side story' part to emphasize the point. Ever seen Marvel and DC use some of their stories with AU one-shots? What if stories? Even if the story itself remains standalone, I still plan to leave openings where I can have the opportunity to at least have one-shots that can take advantage of some of the concepts that caught my attention here: Fighting in a multiverse wide conflict such as the war of understanding, seeing Jeff's reaction to the superpowers of the group and vice versa, the reaction of seeing others (good guys and bad) having to call on a mad Reaper to help save the day, seeing how his Reaper tech reacts with other powers and people ( is he hindered+/strengthened, are they helped+/hurt, or something in the middle), and more besides?
I can respect those who made the attempt at legitimate arguments against the decision of having involvement with Displaced verse and appreciate their input as much as anyone else's. What I don't appreciate is those who are panicking and clogging my comments with threats of dislikes and messages that equate to "Ew. Displaced cooties. Get away!" I have tried reasoning, being respectful of these individuals, and answering their concerns civilly but they seem to taking any form of disagreement or difference in opinion as an affront. I am officially done
. No more courtesy. No more patience. From this moment onward, anymore comments containing mindless bashing, flaming, or threats will be deleted on sight and their owners will be blocked from this profile. No warnings. No wasted efforts to talk them down. Sorry if that sounds mean but I am done being respectful only to have my opinions tossed aside in return. Opinions on a work I MADE!!!
I have a great deal of respect for your opinon on this subject, flamers and trolls will always do what they do. I look forward to reading more of your story, it is a great deal of fun! Maybe one day after i get my story running we could do a cross over/sidestory. I'm exited to see more from you!
While I personally put these Displaced stories on the same level as The Conversion Bureau and various other stories like that, there are some truly good gems among them. While I have yet to find these gems in the Displaced stories, I hope yours will be one of the first.
Good. I don't see enough people act like this off the bat, and even less actually get over the fact people don't like where they're taking their story. It's nice to see F&SM isn't becoming something that panders to the readers.
