    Cactus puns needed

The general consensus seems to be that 2016 was a rather difficult year. It was particularly brutal on my poor cactus.

It looks kind of pitiful, but trust me; I'm thrilled we even made it this far.

Brace Yourselves (plus prereaders?) · 1:23pm Mar 24th, 2015

Let's start off with story time.

Hey story time:

Mmkay so once upon a time my freshman year in high school, I was doing that thing where you write essays for your English class. Mind you--these were my first essays in a high school setting. The first was about symbolism and themes in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and the second topic was some crap about Wuthering Heights. Take a guess as to which prompt I liked more.

Spoiler alert: I did really super well on the first essay. My grammar was on point, the flow from paragraph to paragraph seemed to align with the very stars, and judging from the comments scattering the margin, the whole grading process was something like this: (I am Ralphie)

Spoiler alert number two: I was not divinely inspired for the second essay. I had been in school for a few months, was still adjusting to the workload, didn't enjoy the source material at all I'm not making excuses I swear and in short, wrote a pretty standard essay.

But this second essay was apparently so much worse than the first, that the teacher took me into the hallway during class, and asked me where I got the paper from. It was written so differently that she thought I had plagiarized it, even though I wrote it while sitting in her class.

Moral of the story: There is neither rhyme nor reason when it comes to my writing.

In other, probably non-related news:

I made the mistake of actually reading the EFNW contest rules, which say you can have up to two entries. As of the moment I'm typing this, they're submitted and chugging along through the approval process thing. So you can expect those sometime in the near future.

Oh, I've got this one side story I've been "writing" since September that seems to be nearing completion. If anyone's interested in prereading for me (it's a bit of a different format, and I need to get outside opinions to make sure it's somewhat coherent), please send me a message! The story is low priority, though, so it'll be a while before it needs any attention.

Thanks for all of your support and nice words, everypony! It really warms the tendrils of my heart. dear goodness that's such a weird idiom.

Pics or it didn't happen:

I actually don't have a picture of the assignment, it was so long ago, so have a picture of the most recent time I screwed up an essay (to be fair, it was a group paper).

I'm assuming that title was purely train-of-though? ^^

2905206 Pretty much! Apparently, when you have three people writing a paper, everyone assumes someone else will change it :twilightsheepish:
