I've been looking back at a lot of my stories, and some of my ideas, and realized something; some of them have a deeper meaning, but others don't. So I've just began to think, what if I started writing with that as my goal. I mean my goal is to connect with my readers and maybe even give them some situations to relate to.
When I first began writing, I only did it to please myself. I thought it was cool and it made me feel good. Though, once I started getting a larger audience, I started to write what I thought you guys would like. I found that when I make people happy with my work, it made me far happier than writing for myself. Now, I think my goals have shifted even further. I don't just want to make people happy, I want to help people. I feel like, if I could help even one person through something, or push them in the right direction with my stories, I will have done my job. Honestly, I think that's why I'm becoming a nurse.
So what am I saying? You're not going to see a drastic change in my writing, all you're going to see is a little less off the wall stuff, and more personal stories. This also applies to stories that are already in progress. I hope you guys like it.
Well, whatever works for you ^^
I'd say the Scootaloo/ Spike story is personal, right? Seems that way to me anyway.
I can see where you're coming from. Its natural to want your stories to resonate with your readers on a personal level. If you want to try to make people feel better with your writing, then go right ahead. Just don't forget to write the stories you want to tell, and not the ones most people want to read. While what you're doing is noble, its better to do something right, than to try to please anybody.
I can't wait to see what you have in store.
2881928 Not really... I just wanted to write something really cute. Still plan on finishing it, but I'm having trouble getting into the "write adorable" mode...
2882522 Why not both?
2883377 Exactly.
2926646 Dude! You're not dead!
... Well, there is one idea I keep trying to make work. It's eight years from now, and Spike decides it's time to move out. He tells Twilight he wants to get out and see the world, but that's only half the truth. So he gets on the train to Manehattan, but halfway there the train is forced to make an emergency stop. There's been an attack on Equestria leaving many major cities devastated. Now Spike has to fight through an Equestria left without power, government, or order to get back to a Ponyville that may not even be there. At the same time, Twilight believes Spike has just been killed, but still has to maintain order in the town that will eventually become the new Capitol.
2926810 I like that one. It has adventure in it, yet still poses a lot of dark questions that must be answered truthfully. Spike must learn to fight (To Perhaps embrace his dragon self to save others?), to accept who he is, what others think about him, and why he's fighting to get back home? If even such a place exist. A lot of Man vs self going on here.
Twilight, on the other hand, has a little more story. She must put on a fake smile to control all that is around her for a little while longer. Even though she is the one the needs comfort the most; she puts on a brave face, so that everyone else has someone to look up to, someone to have hope in, as there is now no one else. Yet she herself has no hope in anything. So, why does she still continue to fight? She knows it hopeless, that this place she's trying to defend is going to be destroyed anyways. So why fight against a horrilbe fate with no hope left? A lot of philosophy can be done here.
With your writing skills, I know you can only produce fantastic results.
2926787 Oh okay. Sometimes I assume too much XD sorry.
