So, I've gotten mixed feedback on dC/dt. The biggest critique by far seems to be that it's too wordy and has too many tangents, and I agree with this to a degree. I can be incredibly verbose without meaning to be sometimes. I plan on using said critiques to help revise the earlier chapters when I get the time, and to shape the way new ones are made. However, I would like to ask those of you that favorited the story your opinions on my wordiness. Did you favorite the story because of the wordiness and tangents or in spite of it? I figure I need to cut back on it somewhat, but the question of how much is dependent on how much those of you that already like it enjoy those tangents and long descriptions.
(I tried to be witty, but I fear I may have butchered set notation.)
Let T be the set of all tangents.
BT ⊂ T, where BT represents the set of all bad tangents
OT ⊂ T, where OT represents the set of all okay tangents
GT ⊂ T, where GT represents the set of all good tangents
{ x ∈ BT | x ∈ ( (things that interrupt the story) ∪ (things that too long to explain) ∪ (things that don't matter to the story) ) }
{ x ∈ OT | x ∈ BT, x ∉ GT, x is short }
{ x ∈ GT | x ∈ ( (relevant things) ∪ (things that add to the story) ) }
In English... you and I already talked, so I think you know my thoughts on the matter. I like your vocabulary and the eloquent sentence structure some of the time. I just wanted to remind you that there are good tangents, bad tangents, and those in between. It's not a matter of having too many words, it's a matter of how those words are spent.
