Two Pictures and a Question · 10:16pm Jul 7th, 2012

#1: A Picture

I don't know how old this is or what, but I thought it was worth sharing.
#2: A Question (With a Picture)
On FiMFiction and other sites, you only ever see typed stories. But before all these electronics came out, people used to write by hand(*gasp*). I want to know how you people- who can seem quite legible over the internet, with spellcheck and all- write. So... how do you write? Leave an image in the comments or describe it as best you can if you lack a camera, an imgur account, or a writing instrument.
I fell like you can learn a lot about someone just from their handwriting. For instance, is it hurried and close together, or is it spaced out and free flowing? Maybe it's clear print, or maybe it's beautiful script. I don't know. Show me.
I have a picture of mine for reference:

My hand writing sucks.
I've been mistaken for a girl over the web, so I guess I type pretty well, but my hand writing is really bad.

And show me what "really bad" is and post a picture if you can. If you can't... i dunno

218719 let me see if it will let me post the picture.

Just in case here's the link.

218736 Hmm... let's see what we can deduce:
You don't spend a lot of time making your letters flowery and pretty; therefore, I can assume you care more about what the words say than how the words look. That alone says a lot about you. It's an admirable quality.
And you don't have to give me the link, the picture button works just fine so long as the URL ends in a .jpg or .png or what have you.

218832 ah so that's why dropbox doesn't work for linking images.
That does explain a lot.

Really? You can get that from just what was in the picture?
Wow, all I can tell is if it was written by a male or female.

218926 I am saving this picture forever. It's a much better reaction image than the regular old 'and then they fucked' pic.
On a more serious note, though, your handwriting is readable(that's a good thing! :D), but that it also isn't pretty and flowery, so what I said to DJ could also apply to you. You want to get the writing done, don't plan on spending three hours making sure all your i's are dotted with hearts...
Like I said. It's interesting seeing other people's handwriting. The get little handicaps, like 218850's d's looking like t's, or Arby's k's looking like they're missing the top part. Or, on mine, not lifting the pencil of the paper until the word is done.
And yeah DJ, I can. I'm magic, I don't gotta explain shit. And about genders again- usually(not always!) girls have neater handwriting, but I've seen girls with barely legible or completely illegible handwriting from time to time. It's difficult to tell genders from handwriting, because there's no universal standard. Everyone's got different handwriting.

219479 true, but 90% of the time girls have better handwriting.
My guess would be because girls are more likely to spend time making everything pretty.

Okay, here 'tis!

I'd hazard a guess that this is the case because aesthetically pleasing handwriting is emphasized by many teachers as being important more for girls than for boys. At least, when I was in elementary school, that seemed to be the case.

221822 I don't find that too messy. Your capital letters especially so. Also, I noticed you used the Disney 'i' with the circle on top, and you connect many of your letters (t and i, l and e) like I do. It's a quicker way of writing, and it still gets the job done.
Have you used that signature before? I mean, your internet nom de plume? It looks somewhat practiced, maybe you've been signing autographs, I don't know :derpytongue2:
219656 I think it's a combo of that, and the fact that a lot of teachers are female, especially in the lower grades, when you're just learning how to write. Apparently, only 15% or so of Primary School teachers in the U.S. are guys. And guys do tend to have messier handwriting.
And, in a general statement, I think people are quick to call their handwriting messy. Pretty much everyone I've met thinks their writing sucks, so the question is: whose writing doesn't suck? Hm?

222036 that is a good question.

Yeah, I do connect a lot of my letters. It's almost pseudo-cursive. (I abandoned actual cursive as soon as I wasn't forced to use it anymore.) And it's funny that you mention the signature, because I don't believe I've ever actually written out "Donny's Boy" before today.

222264 It's quite the fancy 'D'.
