Ash vs. The End of the End

I feel the need to speak about how differently the key events of Season 9 would play out in the Order-naries 'verse, but at the same time I don't feel up to making a proper story out of it. I'm going to split the difference with this blog, outlining what would happen without giving too much detail.

    And the magic goes on...

What a way to end the series. From a story-crafting standpoint, I have some complaints about how the final two-parter got rolling, and the resolution isn't how I'd have handled it.
The overall execution, however, and especially the final final episode, were wonderful.

    Still can't help myself.

I promised I'd focus on Pumahara after I finished Storm-chased, and I honestly have tried to get the next chapter done, but my silly, silly brain just can't leave the Order-naries 'verse slot on my WIP list empty for very long.

    Storm-chased complete and changed

I put up the last chapter of Order-naries: Storm-chased a couple days ago. After looking at it, though, I found myself dissatisfied with the last couple paragraphs, so I've gone back and replaced them with a new, better-paced scene. One that I think works better for Ash and Rarity meeting the dust has mostly settled.

I keep getting these lame, half-baked ideas for fics that I don't want to do but which won't go away. If I type them out here, maybe they'll finally leave...

Idea #1: Fallout: Equestria. The fics in this universe I've read are great and inspiring, creatively speaking. However, I don't do grimdark and you really can't lighten up the Wasteland. Anyway, the concept that keeps running through my brain is of a wandering... ah, why bother hiding spoilers? Ashen Blaze, my beloved punching bag of an OC, is a ghoul. Not an ordinary ghoul, but not as special as a Canterlot Ghoul either. He's what I'd call a "Balefire Ghoul," by which I mean hi innate magical power fused with the power of the balefire bomb blast that changed him, making him a source of living radiation and capable of exhaling blasts of balefire. Justifiably upset by the events that led up to the war and its aftermath, Ash has sworn off getting personally involved in large events and simply wanders the wastes cloaked in a heavy radiation-resistant cloak so he won't kill normals with his mere presence, hauling a cart filled with Sparkle-cola to sell to whoever he meets. He maintains a degree of obfuscating stupidity around raiders and the like, luring them into underestimating him and making the first shot. He's quite deadly with a broken cola bottle and only breaks out the balefire blasts if innocents are in danger and he's actually outgunned. As a source of radiation himself, Ash exists in a state of constant regeneration akin to Canterlot Ghouls, but at the cost of not being able to "uber-charge" like normal ghouls and he can be killed if he's hurt faster than he cna regenerate, so big guns like rocket launchers and miniguns are still a threat, as are magical disintegration guns. The plot of my little one-shot would be a day in the life for this lone wanderer, encountering a caravan, doing business (he sells whatever he gets in barter to Ditzy Doo), and then helping the caravan fend off a raider strike before going his way again.

Idea #2: Ponies in my life. With the way my mind works, I sometimes feel like I'm living in two worlds at the same time: reality and a world where the characters I use in my works exist alongside each other, interact, and treat me with mild disdain. Rage Against the Author... Anyway, this fic idea would blur the line between my imagination and reality, with some or all of the Mane 6 finding their way into my house and commenting on what I've had them do. A major scene involves Fluttershy acting as an alarm clock and me bopping her on the head before I wake up enough to realize that I don't have Winter Wrap-up on my iPod.
