#FebFIMFanFicLove Fic Exchange · 11:10pm Feb 10th, 2015
For those of you that don't know, this little fic exchange took place over in the group known as Tag-a-long's Book Club and was for the month of February, obviously. Now, the exchange was this: a person would submit a fic and they would be apart of the exchange, but said story has to be one that not too many people have heard of before. About ten or so people who all submitted fics. Personally, I submitted Twilight's Library by ocalhoun and I was assigned Tainted Reflection by Imperaxum. Now, whenever we were to finish reading said story, we were supposed to review it. Here is my review for the story I read:
By: Imperaxum
Does the Pinkie Pie on the left look like an unfeeling automaton? A magical construct with no capacity for thought or action beyond a simple phrase, like 'FUN'? Well, only the latter's incorrect.
She thought it was all over when her resolve broke and she was flashed back to the mirror pool. Emerging from it for the second time in a lifetime, the first Pinkie Pie clone only knows one thing; she's alive and well, unlike every single one of her reflections. Is she just a lucky reflection? A copy?
In the middle of the Everfree, confused, forlorn, and lost; where will she go, what in Equestria will she do?
And why are these six ponies, including the pony she herself is a reflection of, trying so hard to find her? They were saying something about "splitting the Element of Laughter" . . .
Can't let them catch me. No matter what it takes.
Honestly, the story was different than I expected it to be whenever I read the description for it. I thought it was going to be much shorter, pacing wise, than it was. The story itself was short, but longer than I originally imagined. It took me a while to get into the story since the first chapter is basically a retelling of the episode "Too Many Pinkie Pies" and I really didn't like that bit too much. I do understand why it was basically needed though. It showed the reader how her mindset was originally and once you get to a later part of the story, you can see how much her character has developed, which, in my opinion, was one of the best things about the story. The author, Imperaxum, did a really good job on the main character's character development. The story premise itself was also pretty good and if it wasn't for what it said in the summary about "splitting the Element of Laughter" I wouldn't of expected what happened in the end.
Overall, I give the story a 8 out of 10. The only real bad parts about it I found was that some of the grammar was incorrect. The author didn't punctuate the dialogue correctly and used a hyphen in the place of a dash quite a few times. And that is it for my first review! See everyone later!
