I'm back... again... · 2:43am Feb 3rd, 2015
Well, here we are again. I had planned on having a big, clong, comedy-filled blog about how I was finally back (again) and I had all these important reasons why I hadn't yet posted new chapters, when I realized that you guys don't deserve that. The truth is... I kinda, burnt-out. The fire of creativity that was once in my mind burned down to a cinder thanks to me not being able to write out any bits down due to computer failure or whatever.
The worst part of it all, was that when I finally got a computer to write with, the only portions I could imagine were the end-game or future chapters that I can't wait to get to. When we finally break off onto our own path and stop following the original story. And boy, let me tell you guys, I have a whole big Tolkein-esque adventure ready and waiting. If I could JUST. WRITE. THE. DAMNED. INTERMEDIARY. CHAPTERS!
Sorry... It's just that I've been stuck for a while on the next chapter, how to do it, how to write it, whether to gloss over or go into detail, and then there's all the plot holes I need to cover up that I've either left for myself or began digging.
All of that compiled together equals a chapter that has undergone more re-writes, deletions, edits, changes, mark-ups what have you, than all of my other chapters and stories combined.
And when you get right down to it, it feels like just a flimsy excuse for making you guys wait so long for the next chapter. I've realized that releasing shoddy work, like the previous chapter, is not the way to go, but it's just so frustrating when I can't get the words to sound right on the page. I feel like I'm just puking up something to give to you guys, and I'm ashamed that I can't just write it... well, right.
So, to give some good news, I do have a promising start to the next chapter under works, I do have a new (and I mean brand-new best-I've-ever-had) computer that is definitely staying as mine guaranteed and has little to no chance of crapping out randomly, and my free-time has increased slightly due to the new semester.
That being said, I am still struggling through the quagmire of writer's block, that I will hopefully escape from soon, and I may be getting a job soon (hopefully) that will cut my time for writing but finally get some dough flowing into my pockets (not that I'm particularly wanting of anything besides luxuries, what with still living at home... er.. with my parents...)
So there you go. Yeah... I really need to work on my conclusions.
I hope you realize how many of us are in the same boat of having amazing Ideas we want to write, that require other ideas to come first which we seem to be stuck or unmotivated on.
You are not alone.
best thing to do is push through it. or so i've been told. I'm still sitting here doing nothing in terms of writing stories, but that's beside the point.
I have friends, one of whom is a professional writer, who can tell you that sometimes the only way to get through the writers block is to just write and write. Use the intermediate parts as character building moments, while using the big flashy moments as your motivation to keep writing. You can always go back and rewrite a chapter that you feel is underwhelming and/or not your best work, especially here on fimfic.
And it's good to finally have you back, old friend! :3
You're good, dude. As long as you at least get a chapter out sometime in the next few months. I mean hey, there's better stories (nothing against you of course) that haven't updated in a year or so.
