Well, because someone decided to be butthurt because I hadn't had the same, upper crust, flawless fandom experience as they had, along with deciding that "It's totally fine for my to just jump to every single possible hasty conclusion, come up with accusations based on that, then throw a fit about them", I've decied to go "fuck it" and just reply here for all that has interest, to read: (the main topic of this is hypocrisy, of people insisting to do x, but refusing to it's counterpart) Though overall, I do have to say it's incredibly bs to scoff at someone's personal experiences, just because you happened to have a purely positive experience.
More or less like I'll mention down below, that it's like an aristocrat guffawing at the peasants, rolling their eyes on that something like "poverty" or "hunger" could POSSIBLY exist in their town. Why, they've always had plenty to eat and never seen anyone homeless over at their mansion. Yeah gee, wonder why? I'm just going to be blunt. My patience is wearing thin.
I have been attempting to hold a civil conversation with you about this. Explaining my thoughts and motivations. Trying to understand yours. Discussing your findings vs mine. But this is turning into a massive time sink for me and I'm getting tired of it because:
You keep passive aggressively implying that I can't do a role reversal fic because I haven't already done one, with snide undertones that my opinion doesn't matter as a result of that.
You keep portraying yourself as some sort of elitist, righteous hero fighting the norm of the indoctrinated mob of the majority. It's getting really old because you're propping yourself up on a pedestal and implying, constantly, that everyone should try desperately to emulate you.
You keep dismissing my points by basically saying "I've been around since the beginning and I've seen..." because, apparently, my experiences are less relevant than yours.
Your proof is, at best, given at your word alone, and at worst, nonexistent. You literally said that there are only 73 F/M fics but there are over 1,200 M/M fics. Lady, there's a few hundred M/M fics at best, and most of them aren't any good. Moreover, the most popular M/M fic ever has only 700 likes, and most of them don't even hit 100. And you cannot tell me there are only 179 F/F clopfics on this site. That claim is absurd. I have scrolled past more F/F clopfics than you say exist.
Like I keep saying, I'm not even the right guy to be talking to about this. You have even admitted as much.
And yeah, okay, you really do care about the gender roles. Really, really, really care about them. Perhaps I was wrong to assume you're just 'looking for your fix.' I apologize for that. But do you ever wonder if you're thinking about it too hard? Not everything has to have an exactly equal reverse. Reality is not symmetrical, and symmetry isn't always the best doctrine.
You keep talking about gender equality. Well, here's the thing. What you're saying is impossible. What I said, was that they are different organs with different purposes, and the reality of that will not change because you're offended by their portrayals in fiction. You know why male gloryholes exist in real life? Because they happen to fit a penis really well. Fiction, while fictional, often is a reflection of real life.
But you know what? I really doubt that this will make a difference. I think that you'll just read this and dismiss me as another 'bigot' because of my words that do not agree 100% with yours and whose experiences do not match up with yours. So yeah, go on then.
