I'm not even sure how I should be feeling honestly.
-First story on the popular bar on the main page.
-third story is continuing the trend of amassing views/likes faster than the previous one.
-alerts, which I would watch with interest for a single hit, was at 37, which frankly scared me when I think about that.
-more people have viewed Adapt and Overcome in the 12 hours it's been out than I saw today, possibly even including those I saw at work (yes it was a slow day, but still, holy cow)
That being said, I'm looking at maybe one more one-shot, besides my long-term story, before I take a break. While this "fame" is amazing, it's also kind of terrifying to me, someone who sits in the back of church and classrooms, and only speaks up when asked to. The idea that over 500 people, more people than I can remember the names of RL, have viewed a story of mine just blows my mind.
Those comments aside, I was hit by a mod for using the quotes blocks incorrectly for 'The one who fell through the world', so it failed modding, and my final one-shot for a bit, 'Can changelings get drunk?', will be posted as soon as I can transfer it from paper to computer (I actually wrote it at work while sitting at the cash-register. and unlike normal ideas, I didn't just write a few lines, I wrote the whole freakin' story on paper.)
Ok, I just spent an hour transferring "Can changelings get drunk?" from paper to the site, and I don't know what happened but it's gone.
So for now, I'm going to bed. I'll work on it later. I'm tired, and have work in the morning.
I'll have Master Control strangle the delete the program responsible in the morning.
Chill. It's just people paying more attention to you right now due to seeing you on the front page a lot. Once that drops off, any new stories won't ramp up in views as quickly anymore.
2737682 I know, but it takes a certain amount of activity to get on the popular stories bar in the first place. Even if it's just a quick, silly story, I Hope everyone posts at least something. The hope and joy you feel as others watch it is something... I'm not sure how to describe it. I guess it's almost like your kid coming home from the science fair with a blue ribbon; I want to hug adapt and overcome, and tell it how proud I am.
I can relate, but personally I just spend so much time writing for my grad requirements already, I'm kinda not up to anything extra. :-D
