Equestria was attacked by an advanced alien race, and was nearly destroyed. Only with the power ancient, forbidden magicks were the ponies and other races able to fight back and eventually drive the invaders off-world. In the aftermath, the tired survivors looked up to the stars; gone was the sense of hope and wonder, now replaced only by a burning rage and a lust for revenge. Using captured alien technology, they created starships of their own to slake their revenge on the enemy homeworld.
Earth was attacked by an advanced alien race, and humanity was nearly destroyed. Only by the skin of their teeth and with the expenditure of hundreds of nuclear weapons were they able to drive away the invaders. In the aftermath, the battered survivors looked back to the stars; gone was the hope of peaceful exploration, now replaced by a sense of injustice that could never be righted. Using captured alien technology, they created starships of their own to do unto the alien homeworld what had been done to Earth.

Just wanted to get this off my chest, and it's not formatted as well as it probably could be. I don't remember who wrote the original idea, all I know was that it was written in the comments of either a story on FiMFiction, or somewhere on Derpibooru.
It sounds interesting, but also seems rather predictable.
2702406 I think it was the idea of a "loop", if you will, of time being reset every time one of these events happened, was what really interested me.
