Third Story! Woo! · 3:22am Dec 15th, 2014
And today, I post my third story! Unfortunately, this is the last one for a while. I've got another in the works, but it's barely two-thirds of the way done, and I don't want to put anything concrete out there until it's a little closer to being finished.
Amusingly enough, I wasn't planning on getting this one done so quickly. However, inspiration struck me back in October - in the form of Sunrunner fluttering to the forefront of my brain and saying "Hey! Get yourself in gear and get me established already!" - and I ended up jotting this down in an afternoon. She'd been flying about in my brain for a while, and after a little inspiration thanks to a certain couple chapters from "The Great Alicorn Hunt" and some ruminations on "Rainbow Falls" and the Wonderbolts Reserves, I found myself with a story for her. Naturally, she's pleased and wants to have more done. I intend to oblige her.
And speaking of Sunrunner? She originally started as a generic character in another story, but she ended up taking on a life of her own right around the time I finished up "The Sun Also Rises". As I played with her in my mind, she eventually became what she's presented as here; determined, hard-working and loyal, but not immune to gossip and not without some self-doubt. And at the risk of spoiling things, no, she and Spitfire aren't blood relatives, but she is related to a canon character. Between her description here and some details from my other works, folks should be able to figure it out.
And yes, I read Reality Check's stuff. The mention of Indianappaloosa is one part homage, one part me preferring it over 'Ponyanapolis'. Indianapolis proper is my home town - I've lived there my entire life - and it's pony counterpart's getting a mention in my next installment. As for where Indianappaloosa is, well...east of Canterlot, west of Manehattan, south of the Crystal Empire, north of Dodge Junction. That's all I need to say on the matter.
