Quick Status Update Thing (RESPECT THE THING!) · 12:26am Dec 1st, 2014
Been a while since did one of these. Kinda odd to do one again to be honest but eh I'll just deal. Anyway I wanted to share with you fine fine people a few things that have happened to me since my last blog post.
If you recall one of my New Years Resolution was to post a new story. Unfortunately that most likely won't happen on schedule. I'll explain that in a bit. First I want to remind people of another story I tried to do name Power Rangers: Virtue.
It was a story idea I was toying with a while back. I even talked to my friend Snap Art about it. While I did enjoy writing LOB (and still DO) I recognized LOB as a story wasn't that great. So I figured LOB would be a story for FUNNYZ while PRV would be my "good" story. I was able to write the first chapter. However after I did I realized something I had planned next to nothing for the subsequent chapters. I had concepts but none of them were concrete. This dissuaded me from continuing the story.
The reason I bring up that story is this new one I'm trying to get off the ground. You see I feel I learned from that experience. So I decided to work out most of the details before I'd actually begin writing it. Stuff like who would be the main characters, what challenges they'd face, and ultimately how the story itself would progress to a certain point. Snap Art and I have been working on these things for quite some time.
A while back however there was a bit of a snag. For those who don't recall I'm a college student. About a year ago (or about six months ago) I had a pc. After one of my dad's persuaded me of the wonders of a Mac I caved and decided to buy one.
I'd take the mac with me to school to do stuff like type or listen to music. It had a program called Pages (essentially an equivalent of Microsoft Word). I decided to type up a lot of characters on this program. And I got nearly 100 (maybe closer to 80 or 70) character bios done. At the time me and Snap hadn't talked for a while.
When we'd work together we'd use a google document. So I kept telling myself next time we talked about the story I'd transfer the data from Pages to the Google Doc. Sadly that never happened.
One day I needed to print out a paper for a class. I'd always use the College's library computers to print out the work I'd require for my classes. There was this space between two surfaces. One held the computer and the other held the keyboard and mouse. I decided to stick my laptop (it was in a black case) into the space. It was shadowy so I doubted anyone would notice.
I went away for about two minutes to print out my papers. When I returned it was gone. I frantically searched several times in the library before I gave up. All those character bios were lost to me. Needless to say the experience was devastating to say the least.
Luckily my birthday was near (I turned 21 on the 8th of this month) and my mother gave me a choice. She could get me a pc for about 400 dollars for a joint b day and Christmas present. Of course I said yes.
So I got a new computer. However all that data was still lost. All that work was still lost. Luckily I have managed to create some more characters from scratch. Yet due to the event I'll most likely not make my own deadline to release it before the end of the year.
I haven't worked on LOB to try my hand at another "good" story and trying to give it all my attention for the time being. That is why LOB hasn't been updated in a while. That and school of course but that was a given to trip me up with writing LOB.
The event with my laptop just gave me more work to do. So that is why LOB hasn't been updated for a while. Just to be clear LOB is NOT DEAD it was just MOSTLY DEAD. But seriously I'll get back to working on it after the plans for this new story have been laid out to my satisfaction. Which thanks to the past couple of days will hopefully be done within the next month or two.
If its clear to me that the plans won't be done by Christmas you can expect a short Christmas chapter of LOB. Once the plans are done and I check with Snap I maybe will give you a little hint about what it is. Also don't worry this time I placed everything I've done in a google doc.
With all that said I just want to say one last thing. Thank you. Thank you for being patient. I know LOB is not the greatest story out there (I mean PRV is even ranked higher) but I do appreciate the favs still there. So just THANK. YOU.
